HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Announcement Failed and Fans Weren’t Having It

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones decided to give fans what they’ve been waiting for—the release date information for the upcoming Season 7. They teased the announcement would be revealed on their Facebook page live at 2pm EST. When fans launched the Facebook Live expecting to see or hear the premiere date, all they were greeted with was a block of ice. A literal block of ice!

We applaud the marketing execs (or interns) for the innovative approach to the reveal, but c’mon! Fans have been waiting months for the GoT premiere date, and the best they could do was ice? It also didn’t help that the stream crashed multiple times over the course of the hour it took for the ice to finally melt. Fans went wild on social media after the first feed died and were even more enraged the second time. We can’t blame them for going as crazy as Mad King Aerys waiting to see the reveal.

Here’s a roundup of some of the most humorous reactions to the botched reveal:

We’re thanking the gods of light because the feed finally came back on. To think, we all stuck with this whole watching ice melt thing only to find out that the premiere is July 16th. That’s way too far away HBO!
