Independent Lens: A Path Appears, “Part Three” (Monday, Feb. 9, 10/9c, PBS)

The three-part documentary based on the book written by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn ends tonight with Alfre Woodard and Kristof taking a trip to Kenya. (The previous two episodes are available here.) Beyond the global problem of gender oppression, explored in WuDunn and Kristof’s first documentary series Half the Sky, Path looks to offer solutions for breaking the cycle of poverty that threatens to swallow so many families in the United States and around the world. The presence of celebrity ambassadors like Jennifer Garner and Blake Lively feels strange at times, but all are clearly committed to doing good and connected to the organizations on which Kristof and WuDunn are shining a light.
