What To Know

- The Napiers opened up about handing over hosting duties to their fellow HGTV stars.
- Erin and Ben previously revealed why they couldn’t lead the show’s new season.
For the latest season of Home Town Takeover, Erin and Ben Napier handed over the hosting reins to Sarah and Bryan Baeumler.
The first three seasons of the HGTV series, which debuted in 2021, followed Erin and Ben as they helped revitalize small towns across the U.S. through a variety of renovation projects. News broke in June 2025 that the show’s fourth season would be set in Canada, and the Baeumlers were announced as the hosts of Home Town Takeover Canada a year later.
Erin and Ben opened up about passing the torch to the show’s new hosts in a recent interview with House Beautiful. “Home Town Takeover is a lot of work. Bryan and Sarah are incredibly talented,” Ben shared. “Bryan in Canada is like the Michael Jordan of home renovation. It felt good that we were handing it off to them.”
Home Town Takeover Canada will take place in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Over the course of 12 weeks, Sarah and Bryan will “surprise local changemakers with life-changing home renovations, culminating in an emotional grand re-opening that puts this underdog town back on the map,” per the show’s official description. Along the way, the couple will be joined by special guests Scott McGillivray and Sarah Keenleyside, as well as Erin and Ben.
“It took me back to being a kid in the ’80s,” Bryan told the outlet of filming the series. “Everybody knows each other. The community is so supportive of each other. The First Nations that we met are also an incredible asset. The Seshaht and the Hupacasath First Nations, and having the opportunity to meet their elected chiefs, spend time with them, and be involved in their culture was incredible. I wanted to put on a red-and-black checkered jacket and ride into town on a moose. It just felt so it just felt so Canadian.”

While Erin and Ben won’t take center stage on the show’s latest outing, they told the outlet the series is about letting locals “tell their own story.” Erin explained, “That has been something that we learned in Laurel long before TV. You cannot come into a town and make it something it’s not. The goal is to help a town. get a little bit further down the road to rebirth or growth. The only way to do that is to let the town tell the story.”
Erin and Ben previously clarified why they couldn’t return as hosts for Home Town Takeover Canada in a December 2025 interview with CinemaBlend. “Our production company is Canadian. The people who make our show, they’re passionate about this Canadian takeover,” Erin shared. “But, because we are Americans, we are not legally allowed to host the show. We can only be in it as, like, guest stars.”
Ben added, “A Canadian broadcast show has to be hosted by Canadian talent. 90%; I think 90 was the number. I thought it was just a majority.
Home Town Takeover Canada premieres Sunday, October 25, on HGTV in Canada and will stream on Citytv+. HGTV has not announced when or if the series will be available on broadcast or streaming in the U.S.
