‘9-1-1’ Will Finally Have a Maddie & Eddie Scene in Season 10
What To Know
- When 9-1-1 returns in October, it will feature a first in nine years.
- Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ryan Guzman shared the news that their characters, Maddie and Eddie, will finally share a scene in Season 10.
9-1-1 fans, it’s finally happening. For the first time, in Season 10 (premiering October 15), Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) will have a scene together! It only took nine years (both joined in Season 2).
The stars revealed the news themselves with a video shared on Instagram. “Guys this is not a drill! We got a scene! Yay! Can’t wait for you to see it!” Hewitt wrote in the caption. “Let’s go! #Meddie @ryanaguzman”
Hewitt’s alone on set when the video begins. “Something crazy is happening today,” she says. “And I don’t even know how to explain to you what…” Guzman come up behind her and asks, “Hey, how you guys doing?”
Then Hewitt excitedly shares, “Meddie is born,” as both grin. “Maddie and Eddie in their first scene. It took nine years! You did it. They did it,” she adds, pointing to the camera, meaning the fans, and Guzman agrees. “Well, we’re doing it,” Hewitt continues. “But they did it. We love you. Can’t wait for you to see it.” Watch the full video below to see the two then having some fun together.

There have been small moments between the two over the years, including early on in Season 2 when Eddie, Maddie’s brother Buck (Oliver Stark), and her future husband Chimney (Kenneth Choi) helped her move. In Season 9, Eddie even asked Maddie to bid on him during an auction so he could avoid a date. But it looks like fans are finally going to get what they’ve been asking years for — significant interaction between the two — in Season 10.
It’s something TV Insider has also been asking executive producer Tim Minear about for years; back in 2024, he agreed, “I think we do need [them].”
Hewitt and Guzman have also shared with us their hopes for their characters to talk.
In May 2024, Hewitt told us she’d seen the fans’ posts on social media. “I feel like Maddie and Eddie would have so much to bond on in both having lost spouses, in having troubled marriages, in being parents, and just being complicated people with triggers and trauma and all of that stuff,” she added. “I feel like Maddie would be a good person for Eddie to have in his life. I just don’t know that they’ve figured out how to seamlessly do that yet, but I hope it’s coming. I adore Ryan, so I really hope that it’s coming. It would be fun.”
That same month, Guzman also expressed his hope for such scenes (then in the following eighth season). “I’m going to start pitching that to Tim, Season 8. Actually, Jennifer Love Hewitt was joking about that with me as well, and it’s like, yeah, where are our scenes? How is this not happening? I mean, that’s Buck’s sister, and I’m his best friend. How’s that not happening? Yeah, we need more Maddie and Eddie,” he said.
And in January 2026, Hewitt called it “hilarious” that the two don’t talk. She added, “At some point, I have to believe there will be something where everyone else is going to be out of town and I’m going to be the only person he has to talk to, and it’s going to be really awkward and funny and hopefully bonding. And then everybody will have their Maddie-Eddie moment.” We’ll have to wait to see if that’s how this comes about.

It depends on what kind of a scene it is. I hope it’s not romantic in any way as she is already married to Chim.
That would ruin everything.

Since she doesn't look at all like Jennifer Love Hewitt, maybe it's some kind of trick. Like it's all a dream, with an imposter posing as Maddie?
