Jenny & Dave Marrs Tease Exciting ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ Season 8 Projects

Fixer to Fabulous fans have a lot to look forward to when the show returns to HGTV.

Earlier this month, Jenny Marrs announced via Instagram that she and her husband Dave Marrs‘ flagship series was renewed for Season 8. With production officially underway, the couple teased what viewers can expect from the home renovation show’s new episodes.

“This year, we have a lot. We’ve got a lot of projects going on,” Jenny exclusively told TV Insider, revealing that she and Dave are renovating an airplane hangar into a home for his brother, Matt, and his wife, Karey. “That one’s really cool and has been, probably, one of the most challenging of the season just because it’s our family, and there’s just an extra level of pressure when it’s family.”

The project is one Jenny says has taken a physical toll on Dave. “We’re trying to save money for them,” she explained. “And him and Matt and his dad have been working around the clock on that one, I would say, probably in terms of physical labor and pain.”

Jenny and Dave recently teamed up with Aleve for Project DIY, which celebrates people all across the country who roll up their sleeves to tackle at-home projects, and often pay a physical price for it.

“With any kind of fixing up and any kind of work, there comes pain and a lot of work,” Dave said of the campaign. “And so, working through Aleve to basically get all-day-long pain relief, and then, do a renovation at the same time — it was kind of a good mixing of getting to do a good thing for a person, and talking about pain relief at the same time.”

Dave went on to share that he and Jenny are also gearing up to transform a space for a patient at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “It’s August in Tulsa. It’s miserably hot. We do it in 24 hours. Everyone there is just literally working their butts off to get this done as quickly as we possibly can,” he told TV Insider. “And so, that’s a really physically tolling and challenging project, but also one where there’s such a great reward. So, it’s definitely worth all that suffering to get such a great reward at the end.”

One of the projects that will be featured on Fixer to Fabulous Season 8 is one Jenny said has been “two years in the making.” Dave revealed, “We’re doing a coffee shop, where we actually have, it’s in a creek bed. So, we’re elevating the entire structure with the moving company, putting a whole new foundation and piers underneath it.”

Jenny noted that she and Dave have run into a lot of “red tape” while working on the project. “We’re finally making some progress, so it’s very, very exciting,” she said. “We’re not at all close to being finished with it yet, but we will get it done this year. It’ll be done this year.”

As for whether the couple will contribute to the café’s menu? “We have some family friends, who are amazing, who are going to be renting the place and running it. It’s going to be their coffee shop, so maybe we’ll ask them if we could do a Marrs drink,” Jenny shared, joking that she and Dave don’t have the time to run it themselves.

“We’re gonna just be beneficiaries of it. We’re gonna go in and buy the coffee, just like everyone else, and get to just watch it succeed,” Dave stated.

As teased in their Season 8 renewal announcement, the new episodes will feature the return of fan-favorite carpenter Joe Looney, who has stepped away from the series in recent seasons due to health issues.

“We just told him, ‘Just come hang out. You don’t have to do any actual physical work.’ But he can’t help himself. And so, then he’s in pain, and then he has to take a break,” Jenny shared. “But I just love having him back. It’s been so fun just to have Joe there ’cause he’s just, he’s Joe. He’s so sweet and fun and hilarious, and he has a dry sense of humor. Yeah, so it’s been good.

Dave added, “We’ve really missed him. Like Jenny said, he works all the time. And so, he finally retired from his other job. And then, Jenny pestered him enough that he agreed to come back. But it makes every day brighter when he is there. It’s fantastic.”
