HGTV’s Jenny & Dave Marrs Give Health Update on Former ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ Guest

Jenny and Dave Marrs are giving fans an update on a former Fixer to Fabulous client and their family.

Earlier this month, the couple took to Instagram to ask for prayers for the Esmeyer family, who were featured on a Season 7 episode of Fixer to Fabulous. The family, whose daughter, Teal, is a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patient, received a backyard and kitchen makeover as part of Jenny and Dave’s annual 24-hour home renovation with the organization.

“Our family is currently desperately praying for our precious St. Jude build kiddo from last summer, Teal, as her parents recently received a devastating medical update,” Jenny shared in an October 12 Instagram post.

Jenny shared more details in a Saturday, October 24, Instagram post, writing, “Teal’s beautiful momma, Dru, is now battling a serious health journey of her own. She needs to have surgery but also needs to spend every second with her daughter. It’s truly too much. Please hold this family and their brilliant team of doctors in prayer. We know the One who can heal, and we also know the One who can provide peace and comfort and good days and joy and hope despite a dismal and dark diagnosis.”

Jenny also shared information about how fans can donate to help the family, as well as posted several screenshots of a message from Teal’s father, Bo Esmeyer, revealing that one of her brain tumors had progressed significantly, and that his wife, Dru, will likely have to undergo surgery to remove unspecified tumors of her own.

“We are scared. Teal’s condition is very serious. But we still have hope, there is still a plan, and most importantly, Teal is still here with us,” Bo wrote. “We are going to keep loving her, fighting for her, and making memories with her and Judd one day at a time. Thank you for continuing to love our girl.”

In a Sunday, October 25, Instagram video, Jenny and Dave announced that they set up a donation page to help support the Esmeyers. Donors who give at least $20 will be entered to win a variety of prizes, including a day on the Fixer to Fabulous set with Jenny and Dave, a two-night stay at the couple’s Welcome Inn, gift cards to their shops, and more.

On Monday, October 26, the couple thanked fans for all of the support they have shown so far. “Friends!!! We have been BLOWN AWAY by your generosity! I can’t explain how encouraging it has been to see so many of you rally around the Esmeyer family in prayer and giving,” Jenny wrote via Instagram. “What a beautiful reminder that God can turn our gifts into an outpouring of provision.”

She added, “I know we can’t help everyone going through a hard time, but we can always help the one God puts in our path. God put Teal in our path, and my momma bear heart is going to keep fighting for her in prayer and in any tangible way we can. Thank you for joining us in doing so!!!”
