What To Know

  • Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer is highly confident that Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance will be solved.
  • Coffindaffer emphasized that the case is “red hot.”
  • Key evidence includes DNA found at the scene and doorbell-camera footage of a masked suspect.

Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has been one of the most prolific and vocal experts to discuss Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. And she believes that answers about what happened to Nancy, 84, the mother of Today’s Savannah Guthrie, are forthcoming.

“In terms of future predictions, I essentially 100 percent believe this will be solved,” Coffindaffer told Men’s Journal in an interview posted online on Saturday, June 27. “I’m not 90 percent sure. I’m 99 percent sure it will be solved.

Coffindaffer has long maintained that there’d be developments in the case by August 1, and she stands by that estimate, saying, “I still expect to have movement by about that August 1 date, but it could be before or possibly after that. If anything, I think it’ll be after that.”

And Coffindaffer disputed the notion that Nancy’s case has gone cold. In fact, she called it “red hot,” since there’s “so much going on behind the scenes” and many avenues to investigate.

She said: “From an investigator’s point of view, when something’s cold, it means you have absolutely no clues left. You have no leads to follow. It’s dead. It just dies and you have to put it on the shelf. This is not that. This is the opposite of that. They’re still drinking from a fire hose.”

Nancy has been missing since February 1, when she disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona, in the middle of the night. Investigators have found DNA at the scene, and they have doorbell-camera images of a masked suspect.

“The DNA is always going to take several months to process,” Coffindaffer explained. “Tracking at least one vehicle that would have left in that dark environment would take time. You have to go from the choke points out into the various directions so you can finally identify a vehicle that showed up at that particular timeframe that would be commensurate with the time the crime was committed. That takes a lot of time for investigative analysts to literally sit there and just watch second after second of different [surveillance cameras], which takes months in terms of time. That is why August 1 was my prediction at the beginning.”

I think the sheriff did it.Evidence is almost none, clearly someone knew what they were doing. They knew too much about the mother and her situation to get away with kidnapping her .they may have known each other and she would have let him in ,trusted him.

I think that this retired FBI Agent is

Full of it ...Theses law enforcement

are mixed up in this crime & the

    Sheriff's office is a laughing stock ...

They should had given up all the evidence to another law enforcement agency so this case could had been

Investigated the way it should had

    been...

I think the family knows something as well plus the granddaughter she even said it wasn't supposed to happen this way. I still believe the cops knew something because they keep things and didn't do their part . And who's to say the person at the camera at Nancy's house was a guy with all that padding on it could of been someone alot smaller just to look like a male n I believe theirs more then one was inside the house when she got home .I also believe they are the same ones who killed Nancy's dog

Piss poor law enforcement in investigation, they needed FBI and several other agencies for their expertise. Little agencies wanted to be big fish without the training, expertise and fear of sharing all evidence to appear competent. They arent.

Their has to be a reason behind this why that sheriff doesn't want anyone to help . They didn't even call the FBI until later on in the investigation. Then they allow the family to have the house back i don't know any poilce department in the United States that would allow this go on except for Arizona they need more training unless someone in law enforcement is involved some how just like that California guy how would he know all this . Im starting to pull towards Annie brother n law cause it looks just like him and the way he walks then he walked passed the house with his dog either way I think this detective is onto something that they can say I pray savanna gets answers soon .
