Nancy Guthrie Sheriff Drops Big News About Blood Found at Home
What To Know
- Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced that investigators are making progress in identifying DNA from blood found at missing Nancy Guthrie’s home.
- Blood spatter was discovered on Nancy’s property and DNA is being tested at multiple labs including the FBI’s Quantico facility.
- Nanos emphasized the importance of a thorough and patient investigation to ensure fairness and accuracy.
Nancy Guthrie has been missing for over 100 days and counting, but Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has revealed that he thinks investigators are “getting closer” to identifying DNA.
Speaking to People, Nanos pushed back against the claims that the case has gone cold and suggested that blood found at Nancy’s property could soon be identified.
“I know we have DNA that is unknown who the contributor or depositor is, but I think they’re getting closer to finding out who that was,” he told the outlet, adding that he has “confidence in our labs.”
He continued, “When the labs tell us, ‘Hey, there’s nothing else we can do,’ well, then maybe we’ve got a problem… we’ve got a cold case… but right now, the labs aren’t telling us that.”
Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1, when police believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona. While investigators have released doorbell camera footage of a masked suspect and a description of that individual, no suspects have been named.
Blood spatter was found outside Nancy’s property, on her front porch, and on the pathway leading to the street. There has been an ongoing debate about whether the blood belonged to Nancy or her alleged abductor, or possibly both.
Nanos explained how DNA continues to be tested at multiple laboratories across the country, including the FBI’s high-tech lab in Quantico.
“When you have the best minds of the country working on problems, I think they’re gonna solve them,” he stated. “It just takes a while.”
As for why the case is moving so slowly, Nanos explained that an investigation such as this requires patience. “Nobody wants to make a false arrest. Nobody wants to falsely accuse somebody,” he said.
“At some point in time, someday we may have somebody in a courtroom that deserves his or her right to have a fair and impartial trial,” Nanos continued. “The way you get that is through a fair and impartial investigation.”
Nanos acknowledged the public frustration but said it will not deter the investigation. “There’s frustration because people want to know,” he said. “But this is just like any other case. Sometimes you solve them within hours or days. Sometimes it takes a long time.”

I think this case has dragged on too long. Why hasn’t the DNA test found out already whose blood it is. Can’t blame the sheriff for everything. Why no fingerprints found on inside the gloves? Journalists love to have cases drag on it seems. Readers are presumably getting tired of this case dragging on and on with nothing happening. There are many other unsolved crimes that need to be resolved too.

If you watch true crime stories on Dateline, 48 Hours, Forensic Files and Blood Detectives, cases often go as long as 40 years before they are solved. Few cases get resolved within a year or so.

Fingerprints inside the gloves? What gloves are you talking about? You appear to have no idea what you are talking about. We, here in Tucson, want this case solved no matter how long it takes.

The sheriff send DNA to Florida instead of Virginia where the high tech US lab is.

I just keep wondering why Nanos is still in there.

Barney Fife is the man

Sheriff Nanos, put a cork in it. Stop opening your mouth. The next time you talk about this case should be when dectives and scientists have positively identified the perpetrator or not.

How does this man still have a job

I think the sheriff did it! For the attention
-
E
For negative attention? Maybe someone else did it to set him up....it seems like people are actively trying to get rid of him. I actually don't think he had anything to do with it. Unless someone knew just how crappy the PCDF was.

Has anyone thought about a polygraph and maybe as my son always says! they are not asking the right questions because most people can answer yes and no questions and pass but that is why it is not used in the court of law
So I think they do know who it is they want to get it right so this person doesn’t walk

The test. Is not reliable. The administrator and the subject can cause errors.

Sheriff Nanos Screwed the investigation by not allowing the FBI to take control of the case immediately! Local sheriff's departments in states like NM, AZ & TX have too many "good old boy" sheriff's deputies who thinks they're the FBI. They refuse to allow state & federal authorities the proper jurisdiction. I believe that attitude got Mrs. Guthrie killed before any capable law enforcement officers could even get involved.
So sorry for the Guthrie family. They were at a disadvantage from the beginning.
The family is in my prayers that the recover Nancy and can lay her to rest.

It would be the only crime he has not committed!
-
D
Give it a rest! Every time something can’t be solved, it’s Trump’s fault.

How would a person even prove that?

So much against him, but even when he's been found guilty, has it mattered? People are still blinded by ignorance & lies. Just give it time. When his numbers really drop, she will magically appear & he'll take credits as always. 🤦🏻♀️
