Fox News’ Jesse Watters Gets Mocked Over JD Vance ‘Fudge’ Comment

Fox News anchor Jesse Watters came under fire on social media on Tuesday (June 16) after he said that fudge was “too gay” to serve Vice President JD Vance during an on-air interview.

The moment came in the closing moments of Tuesday’s episode of The Five, where Vance had joined the panel to promote his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith. During his sign-off, Watters said, “Because it’s National Fudge Day, for the VP, but I thought it would be too gay, so I did pickle cake instead.”

His co-hosts awkwardly laughed, including Dana Perino, who said, “Jesse!” while shaking her head. Greg Gutfeld also looked off-camera and scoffed, “So you did pickle cake!” The show’s liberal commentator, Jessica Tarlov, remained silent throughout the segment.

“Thank you for joining us, Mr. Vice President, and enjoy your pickle cake,” Perino said as she closed out the show and threw to Bret Baier.

A clip of the segment was shared to social media and quickly went viral, with many slamming Watters for his comments.

“So eating a pickle cake is less gay than eating fudge?” wrote one X user.

“He didnt have to say or do like… any of that. The hell is wrong with him?” said another.

“Only someone who is uncomfortable with who they are would avoid something like fudge bc it sounds gay,” another added.

Another said, “Using one of the most phallic fruits to prove youre not gay is… something!”
