‘CIA’: Tom Ellis & Nick Gehlfuss Reveal What’s Next After That Shocking Ending

CIA dropped two bombshells on CIA Case Officer Colin Glass (Tom Ellis) and FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) in the penultimate episode: the identity of the mole and the appearance of someone neither expected. TV Insider spoke with Ellis and Gehlfuss about those major moments. Warning: Spoilers for CIA Season 1 Episode 11 ahead!
Colin and Bill are able to narrow down their list of mole suspects to three: counter-terror agent Kevin Turner (Jake Matthews), intelligence analyst Zeeb Ornstein (Jonathan Randell Silver), and Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard (Necar Zadegan). Colin wants to take Nikki off the list, given their history, but in the end, he OKs leaving her on, and the partners set up a test to determine who the mole is.
No one shows up at the meet, where, depending on the color stroller selected, they’ll know who, but thanks to Ian (FBI‘s James Chen) tracking their phones, they realize it’s Kevin, heading for Sarah’s (Sarah Diamond) place. (Colin was only with her for her access at Pyramid Security.) When Colin gets there, Kevin has Sarah held hostage. The CIA officer saves her and has to tell her that it was never real and was only just an operation.
But that’s not all. When Colin and Bill go to the hospital to question Kevin — Colin stabbed him during their fight — he flatlines after a doctor adjusts his meds. But that doctor? Not a doctor. As Colin sees on the security footage, it’s none other than Toni (Angela Sarafyan), his supposedly dead partner (and love of his life).
Going into the finale, how’s Colin handling that shock? “Not particularly well,” Ellis tells TV Insider. After all, “he felt responsible for her death and has carried that with him for 15 months.”
Ellis continues, “The universe has conspired, and he’s basically doubting every instinct he ever had as a spy and as a human, I guess. And he’s spinning out, and he makes it his mission to find Toni. And when he finds her, he wants to kill her. And so yeah, he’s basically not a reliable centered human being in the finale, and good job Bill’s there because he is.”
Adds Gehlfuss, “That’s part of the partnership, right? They rely on each other when they need to, and it’s completely human to get in too deep in emotionally over when work and personal blend.”
But that doesn’t mean that Colin’s going to “willingly” let Bill be there for him, says Gehlfuss. “In fact, I think Bill knows that part of their partnership is to protect Colin, given the fact he doesn’t carry a weapon, but I think he’s going to need to literally pump the brakes on some stuff, have a great moment with him, and then keep a close eye on him. What I can tease is that you’ll see Colin doing something that we’ve seen Bill do many, many times throughout the season for the first time.”

He was clearly lying when he told Sarah that it was just an op, and none of it was real. You could see that it was killing him inside to say that.

OMG, I didn't see that coming!! Poor Colin, he’s been carrying this grief and guilt for so long. He was just starting to regain some confidence thanks to Bill! He must be on fire again (but not for the same reasons :-)) and I doubt he’ll be able to keep reason if he finds Toni. I think he’s been manipulated by her and her friend, who are part of a vast conspiracy of moles around the globe to sow chaos.Humm, I'm sorry, but I don't trust Nikki, she's give too many weird answers since the beginning. I'm on my guard but we still don't know the story behind Colin/Nikki.

So either Toni was truly a traitor all along OR she has become a one-woman army who is actually trying to take down the people who tried to kill her because she assumes that nobody in the CIA can be trusted.

First option. And she's not the only, who said her where Kevin was? In think Nikki is the head of the moles

Kevin is a mole, but there are more. And I think Nikki is one of them. Who gave Toni the information about the hospital where Kevin was? This is going to be a huge blow for Colin. But I imagine something else might happen in the finale.

Given what happened to Sarah, I suspect that her son will grow up to take revenge on Colin for ruining his mother's life in a future season of the show.
