Could Bridgerton welcome back a familiar face in the near future? The possibility seems to exist for Phoebe Dynevor, who played Season 1’s leading lady, Daphne.

The star, who features in Netflix’s newly released horror flick Thrash, got candid about room for a potential reprisal of her role as the Duchess of Hastings, and her answer may surprise some. Sitting down for Collider’s Ladies Night podcast, Dynevor was asked about Bridgerton and whether or not she’d decided to leave the Shondaland hit.

“No,” Dynevor relayed. As fans will recall, she appeared in Season 2 of the series for a few episodes, supporting onscreen brother Jonathan Bailey and his co-lead, Simone Ashley, as Anthony and Kate, but her onscreen husband, Simon, a.k.a. Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), did not. Dynevor subsequently didn’t return for Season 3, after no stories featuring Daphne were written into the plotline.

“I think, from what I know…. when the first season came out, they didn’t know what they needed to put in place,” Dynevor explained, regarding potential contracts and future storylines for Bridgerton. “So we were like the ones that got away, I think,” she added of herself and Page.
