The Tragic Story of the Real Helen Crump

While I am a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show, I have publicly gone on record in the past as not being that big of a fan of Helen Crump. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think that the actress who played her, Aneta Corsaut, was pretty darn great. In fact, I’d even go as far as to say that Aneta was awesome in a lot of things, including that Steve McQueen B-movie classic, The Blob.

And let us not forget that, according to author Daniel de Visé, Aneta was one of Andy Griffith’s great loves during his life.  In an April 21, 2023 article in OK! magazine, de Visé is quoted as saying, “Andy couldn’t get enough of Aneta. They were closer than anyone knew.”
