Emily Blunt & Chaske Spencer Brave Violent Wild West in New Trailer for ‘The English’ (VIDEO)
Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer are embarking on a violent trek across the American Wild West in Prime Video‘s upcoming drama series The English, set to premiere on November 11.
Described as an “epic chase Western,” The English is written and directed by Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line) and follows an aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Blunt), and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Spencer), who come together in 1890 middle America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood.
“I’ll tell you a story; mine’s about revenge. I can’t help but think yours is, too,” says Blunt at the beginning of the teaser (watch below). What follows is a series of dusky landscapes, bloody shoot-outs, and chases on horseback. Through it all, Blunt and Spencer’s characters stand side-by-side, taking on the brutal world around them.
Both characters have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past. As they journey across the rugged terrain, they’re faced with terrifying obstacles that will test their limits, physically and psychologically. It’s not until they arrive at the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming, where a series of macabre unsolved murders have been taking place, that their intertwined history will be truly understood.
In addition to Blunt and Spencer, the cast includes Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tom Hughes (A Discovery of Witches), Toby Jones (The Detectorists), and Ciarán Hinds (The Terror).
The English is a co-production with Amazon Studios and BBC, in association with All3Media International. It is produced by Drama Republic Ltd, a Mediawan company, and Eight Rooks Ltd. Blick serves as executive producer alongside Blunt and Greg Brenman (Peaky Blinders). Colin Wratten (Killing Eve) is on board as a producer.
