The cast of The Santa Clause is getting an extra dose of star power! Kal Penn will star alongside Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell in the upcoming Disney+ limited series, Deadline reports.

Penn will play single dad Simon Choksi, a game inventor and product developer with dreams of becoming the next Jeff Bezos. Able to “talk the tech mogul talk” but not “walk the walk,” his life will change after a trip to the North Pole.

Based on the beloved Disney movie trilogy, the series will follow Allen’s Scott Calvin (aka Santa Clause), who upon turning 65 realizes that he can’t keep up his role forever, especially with two kids who know nothing but life the Pole. Wanting to move his family down south, he sets out to find the perfect Santa replacement. Mitchell will return as his wife, Carol, who took up the mantel of Mrs. Claus upon their marriage in the series’ second installment, The Santa Clause 2.

Already a part of the Disney family as the voice of Mikku on Disney Junior’s Mira, Royal Detective, Penn has a plethora of television credits to his name, including Clarice, Sunnyside, Designated Survivor, The Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Battle Creek, How I Met Your Mother, House, and many more.

The series will reunite Allen with Last Man Standing creator Jack Burditt, who will serve as showrunner in addition to executive producing with Allen, Jon Radler, Hench, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, and director Jason Winer. The Santa Clause is set to begin production this month.
