There are worse things Vanessa Hudgens could do than… star in a highly anticipated pilot.

Fresh off a buzzed about turn as Rizzo in Fox’s Grease: Live, Hudgens has been cast in the NBC comedy Powerless, TV Insider has learned. The half-hour, single-cam comedy is set at one of the worst insurance companies in America, one that just so happens to take place in the DC Comics universe. It’ll explore the trials and tribulations of working a day job as a regular ol’ person in a world filled with super heroes and their foes.

Hudgens will star as Emily Locke, described as “an insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people” and someone who “likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done.” But she becomes “increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various super heroes that proliferate in her city.”

The NBC and Warner Bros. pilot comes from executive producer and writer Ben Queen, creator of last season’s flop A to Z. Hudgens, of course, is best known for her work in the High School Musical franchise.
