‘Will Trent’ Season 4 Premiere: See Margaret Cho as Will’s New Therapist (PHOTOS)
It’s almost time to reconnect with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s finest when Will Trent returns next week. The hit crime drama returns for Season 4 on Tuesday, December 6, and it looks like we’re in for a wild new adventure indeed.
The teaser, embedded above, shows that Will (Ramón Rodríguez) will be grappling with demons both internal and external as his mother’s murderer, James Ulster (Greg Germann), returns to torment him some more. But he’ll have some help this time, as his therapist, Dr. Roach (guest star Margaret Cho), encourages him to confront his anger.
As executive producer Liz Heldens told TV Insider, “In the first episode, Margaret Cho as Dr. Roach, his therapist, says, ‘It’s normal for some anger to come up during therapy,’ and I think that’s kind of true. It’s like, he’s sort of facing his past and … looking at why things happen, and he’s having some emotions about that. And this is a character that is used to not examining and going forward and to doing his job. He emerged from a very abusive past, by some miracle, being this deeply good man, and I think he’s done that by ignoring some feelings and not allowing himself to think about what might have been, any regret, and now that he’s doing that, it’s just some stuff is coming up and, behaviorally, it’s been fun exploring that … in both ways that are fun and comedic and a little bit darker.”
Plus, the logline for the episode tells us, “Five months after the attack on the GBI, a figure from Will’s past escapes prison, forcing him to defy orders and launch a search that rips open old wounds and threatens to destroy everything he’s fought to rebuild.”
