‘Wilderness’: See Jenna Coleman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Benson & More in Prime Video Series (PHOTOS)
Prime Video is giving viewers a first look at the upcoming original series Wilderness, starring Jenna Coleman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Benson, and Eric Balfour.
Written and created by Marnie Dickens and based on B.E. Jones’ novel of the same name, Wilderness is a twisted love story where a dream holiday and a supposedly “happily-ever-after” turn into a waking nightmare. Coleman and Jackson-Cohen play British couple Liv and Will. Seeming to have it all, they are in a rock-solid marriage and living a glamorous new life in New York with a golden future stretching across the horizon.
But then Liv learns about the affair Will’s been engaging in. What begins as heartbreak quickly makes way for fury. As a result, the couple sets out on the American road trip Liv’s always fantasized about through Monument Valley to the Grand Canyon, on through Yosemite and ending with a hedonistic weekend in Las Vegas. For Will, it’s a chance to make amends, but for Liv, it’s a landscape where accidents happen all the time and a perfect place to get revenge.
While exploring though, they bump into Will’s colleague Cara (Benson), a young woman with a promising career and loving boyfriend, Garth (Balfour). Liv’s plans are wrecked and, as the foursome go hiking together, Cara and Garth find themselves enmeshed in Will and Liv’s lives in a way that will change the course of all their futures.
The psychological thriller is expected to launch on Prime Video this fall. Regarding the themes of the show, series writer, creator, and executive producer Dickens says, “Who doesn’t know someone who’s been cheated on? That gut punch on discovery, the trail of paranoia and suspicion it leaves behind, the difficulty of trusting again. It’s enough to tip anyone over the edge. And that’s where we meet our heroine, Liv, as she’s lied to over and over by the man she loves. Of course she wants revenge, and I, for one, hope she gets it.”
