7 TV Shows Not Yet Renewed But Likely to Return for Another Season

There’s a lot up in the air about the future of television shows right now, and while some series have been renewed, there are still plenty that haven’t yet.

There are also some that are locks to return even without an official announcement; NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles producers have already detailed plans for the upcoming 18th and 12th seasons, respectively.

But there are also a few shows that could go either way. To make life easier, we’ve compiled the bubble shows with producers that are optimistic about more seasons, including Prodigal Son and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, below.

Prodigal Son

The producers are hopeful that they’ll be back for another season. “We are cautiously optimistic,” showrunner Chris Fedak told TV Insider. “The studio and network, Fox and Warner Bros., have been very supportive of the show.”

The Resident

Showrunner Todd Harthan also thinks his Fox drama will be back. “We’re all feeling very confident that that call will come,” he told TV Insider. “I think we’re in really good shape to continue on.”

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

Showrunner Austin Winsberg is “cautiously optimistic,” revealing to TVLine that he “had to pitch Season 2” to the network in recent weeks. Furthermore, NBC “was very happy with the creative direction,” he said. “They’re very happy with the show in general.”

Manifest

Creator Jeff Rake is certainly planning on the NBC drama returning for a third season. In fact, he shared quite a few details about the plan going forward following the Season 2 finale.

Co-creator Jason Richman is “hopeful” about the drama’s chances. “The show just has so much story left to tell,” he said to TVLine. “It’s been such a thrilling experience, and when the show is cooking on all cylinders, there’s nothing more fun in this world to be doing…”

All Rise

The CBS drama is doing something different with a virtual episode, filmed in the actors’ homes, on May 4, and co-showrunner Greg Spotisswood told TVLine it’s a sign that they “can adapt to the time.” Furthermore, “I feel like we have a lot of people that we’re working with on the studio, on the network side, who have a genuine affection and love for the show and for the characters and for what we’re trying to do,” he added.

A Million Little Things

Creator DJ Nash also seems to be hopeful about the drama’s chances — especially that cliffhanger — and he detailed plans for a potential third season following the last finale.
