9 Shows That Haven’t Been Renewed: Which Have Us Worried?

While we know the fates of a majority of shows from the 2019-20 season, there are still some we don’t.

While, for example, CBS recently renewed a majority of its shows, adding four to the ones it’s axed, and ABC added 13 more renewals to its previous pickups and canceled five, NBC has been a bit slower about revealing its series’ fates and still has quite a few left up in the air.

**Season status:** Season 1 finale aired January 23

**Are we worried?** Yes

The NBC comedy starring Bradley Whitford about a small-town church choir ended its freshman season months ago. While NBC does have a few shows to decide the fates of, with less than stellar ratings, we’re not expecting this one to return.

*Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector*

**Season status:** Season 1 finale aired March 13

**Are we worried?** Yes

NBC’s Friday night offering may have wrapped up one mystery for the titular character and the NYPD before ending its first season with a cliffhanger, but the longer it is without news, the less hopeful we are about seeing a resolution. Plus, according to *Deadline*, its chances aren’t looking good.

*Manifest*

**Network:** NBC

**Season status:** Season 2 finale aired April 6

**Are we worried?** Slightly

If NBC had made decisions on more shows than it has, we’d be more concerned. But due to its delayed-viewing successes (in viewers and among adults 18-49), we think it’s more likely it will be renewed than it won’t be and fans will get to see what’s next for the returned passengers of Flight 828 and their loved ones — especially after the discovery of part of the plane.

**Season status:** Season 1 finale aired April 16

**Are we worried?** Yes

The family comedy starring Fran Drescher also suffered in terms of ratings, and *Deadline*‘s report also suggests it’s more likely to be canceled than renewed.

TV Shows 2020 Renewed Canceled Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist — NBC

**Season status:** Season 1 finale aired May 3

**Are we worried?** No

As we’ve pointed out, NBC has yet to announce the fates of several shows, and the first season of the musical dramedy was entertaining and a multi-platform hit. Chances are we’ll see what’s next for Jane Levy’s Zoey and her ability to hear people’s inner thoughts as “heart songs.” Showrunner Austin Winsberg pitched the second season to NBC and told *TVLine*, “The network was very happy with the creative direction [and] the show in general.”

TV Shows 2020 Renewed Canceled For Life — ABC/Matthias Clamer

*For Life*

**Season status:** Season 1 finale aired May 12

**Are we worried?** Slightly

The legal drama isn’t a ratings hit (but does well across multiple platforms). However, we shouldn’t rule it out because *Deadline* reports that ABC is a fan of the lead, Nicholas Pinnock, whose character is serving a life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit and is providing legal help to his fellow inmates, and sees “potential” in the drama.

**Are we worried?** No

The CW handed out renewals at the beginning of January, while this *Riverdale* spinoff premiered on February 6. With that connection and new fans likely discovering it on the just launched HBO Max, chances are that a decision will come soon.

While its ratings (2.64 million tuned in for the premiere) haven’t been winning the night, its first season has yet to finish airing. Plus, showrunner Dean Georgaris is hopeful. “The fact that we’re still very much alive means a lot to all of us, and hopefully we’ll get the news sometime in the next couple weeks,” he told TV Insider Friday.

Though the series originally premiered on March 24, its second episode didn’t air until April 30. Since NBC hasn’t pulled it from the schedule, we’re going to give it a couple more weeks before we worry about not hearing anything about a second season.

Why do they cancel any shows after just one season. People need to pass the word to friends of the shows they like and maybe ratings will go up during the second season. If a show is in the second season then people are watching. I watch all the shows mentioned here. Please reconsider.

  Sometimes they cancel a show after airing one EPISODE. How can anyone know if they like a show by one episode? It’s ridiculous.

Council of Dads , Manifest ,Life,are on my list. We need to have our shows to keep us grounded ! Familiar programs are what we must have so that it won't feel as though are losing everything! Keep our TV comfort food something that we can hold on to!!

I love For Life. I think it is a very important story, especially in these current times. The acting is superb and the story is so rich. We don't need any more stupid sitcoms. If this show is not renewed it would be a huge loss!

I absolutely love baker n the beauty please renew this for a second n third season! I loved the grand hotel but u didn't give it a chance to c what happened at the end ! N still waiting for supernatural to finally finish there 15 season. Please give For life another season I looked forward to it n it was amazing how they play out it was almost like the tv show Oz !

I really hope For Life and The Beauty and the Baker both make it. I love, love, love both of them. I also heard Single Parents might not get renewed. That's a great show also.

So sad to see emergence go my grandkids ages 10 12. And 13 and I watched it and loved it .

Also we all really hope Manifest don't go . it is also a nother show we love.

I sure hope that ABC renews For Life, because it gives you an inkling into what prison life is like. And also how injustice the Justice system is, especially towards people of color.

All of the shows mentioned above were good shows, great acting and writing. Why are these pulled after only one season? Some shows need a second season to really catch on. I am so mad at the networks for making these decisions so quickly. Give them another chance.

I watch Lincoln and Manifest. I really enjoy them. I'm waiting on so many new episodes; Evil, Blue Bloods, Prodigal Son,and many others.

Manifest lost its way half way thru season 2 and needs better writing for season three.... Less pregnant pauses and meaningful looks would help.

Neither Perfect Harmony nor For Life deserve second seasons. In Harmony's case the ratings were as abysmal as Whitford's poor performance. If ABC renews For Life, it's conceding that it no longer has the ability to compete as a major network. Indebted has no chance of returning. I expect the hammer to be dropped on both Harmony and Indebted in the next week or so.

Council of Dads is a sick program. The premise was amazing but it quickly turned into a soap opera about the LGBTQ community. Flush it. We need family programming . Adult programming without the “agendas”!
