They’re All Judging Jaime

No one in Winterfell likes Jaime, especially Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), Sansa (Sophie Turner), Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke).

Jaime Is Scared

Jaime may be ready to fight the undead alongside everyone who hates him, but no one’s welcoming him with open arms.

“When I was a child, my brother would tell me a bedtime story, about the man who murdered our father, about all the things that we would do to that man,” Daenerys tells him, and Jaime looks worried.

Daenerys and Sansa Agree on Something

In the Season 8 premiere, Tyrion announces that the Lannister army will be joining them in Winterfell, but Sansa knows he’s stupid for thinking that’ll actually happen.

“He never should have trusted Cersei,” Daenerys says to Sansa in the Episode 2 trailer, and given the shot of Tyrion immediately prior, she’s likely talking about him.

If there’s anything that can bring these two women, who have had a chilly beginning in the premiere, it’s that Cersei (Lena Headey) can’t be trusted.

But Are They in Agreement Here?

Daenerys and Sansa can’t always be in agreement or opposition, but they may be back to the latter at this point. Will it be regarding Jaime fighting for them, or will another issue be brought before them in the Great Hall at Winterfell?

Will Jon Keep Daenerys in the Dark About His Identity?

Game of Thrones Season 8 doesn’t waste any time when it comes to Jon’s (Kit Harington) true identity. In the premiere, Bran tasks Sam (John Bradley) with sharing the truth with Jon, and he does.

Now, Jon knows he’s really Aegon Targaryen, true heir to the Iron Throne and Daenerys’ nephew (which will obviously complicate their love life). But will he share this news with Daenerys, or keep her in the dark for now? They need to be focused on surviving the battle to come, not who will rule when it’s over.

Is this when he’s going to tell her they’re related and he’s the true heir to the Iron Throne?

Archer Arya

Arya (Maisie Williams) may be skilled with a blade — she’s used her sword more than “once or twice,” as she tells Jon in the premiere — but she also knows how to handle a bow. She’ll be picking one up once again.

Game of Thrones 802 Tormund
HBO

Tormund in Winterfell

Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) and the others make it to Winterfell ahead of the Night King and his army and will likely deliver news of Lord Umber’s gruesome death.

A Kiss Goodbye Before Battle

Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) kiss presumably before he joins his fellow soldiers for battle. But will it also be a kiss goodbye? Will he survive?

The Battle Is Imminent

The preview ends with Tyrion among the soldiers, awaiting battle, which, with Tormund and the others’ arrival, has a clock on it: “before the sun comes up tomorrow.”

It’s the calm before the storm in the preview HBO posted for Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2.

The drama is building to an epic battle. With the Night King and his Army of the Dead heading for Winterfell, everyone has to prepare for war — but there are some matters that must be dealt with first, especially concerning the latest arrival.

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) shows up to fight just as the premiere ends, but as the trailer below shows, no one’s welcoming him with open arms.

TV Insider has broken down the most important moments from the preview in the gallery above.
