‘9-1-1’ Fall Finale Promo: Something’s Wrong With Hen (VIDEO)

9-1-1 just shocked us by killing off a character we first met back in Season 2, and now the promo for the fall finale — the good news is the series returns on January 8, 2026 — makes it look like we have reason to be concerned about a member of the 118. We’re still not over Bobby’s death last season!

The promo for the Thursday, November 13, fall finale, titled “Family History,” is all about Hen (Aisha Hinds). The 118 responds to a call at a doctor’s office that looks more like a spa, and when it becomes clear they can’t save the patient there, the doctor calls it. However, Hen argues that he doesn’t get to make that call. She also takes offense when he calls attention to her hand after we see a tremor of some kind.

“Are you diagnosing me? You’re a salesman,” she says to him.

But it looks like he’s right to notice it because we then see Hen at home and she collapses! The end of the promo shows Athena (Angela Bassett) saying she’s first on scene and approaching a house’s entrance, but is she at Hen’s or is it simply cut together to look that way and that’s part of another storyline in the episode? Watch the full promo above.

A question of Hen’s health comes one episode after Eddie’s (Ryan Guzman) abuela (Ana Mercedes) died suddenly in “Día de los Muertos.” It also comes after that same episode featured quite a few references to Bobby, the 118’s captain who died tragically on the job in Season 8 after giving the only antiviral for a super-virus to Chimney (Kenneth Choi); Buck (Oliver Stark) thought he was haunting his house, and Athena found her son, Harry (Elijah M. Cooper), wearing his turnouts as a Halloween costume as he begins his own journey to becoming a firefighter. Bobby’s loss continues to be felt.

When TV Insider spoke with Hinds after Episode 4, the conclusion of the space arc, she told us, “What’s next is always the question, right? It’s like, every season we’re in this place and something happens and we’re like, whoa, well, what’s next now? And it’s like if you have been with us this long, the foot is on the gas and it’s never letting up, and at any moment the foot might come off the gas just a little bit, but then it’s more right back down. And so we will continue to travel this journey and battle it out one breath at a time, one episode at a time, and one catastrophe at a time. But I think that Hen is always kind of keeping her focus on being purposeful, being helpful, and helping to heal as many folks as she can in the work that she’s doing, and to love her family. And ever so often, there’s some obstacle in the way of that.”

As for Hen and her family getting a break after the drama of recent seasons, Hinds laughed, “As you know, this is 9-1-1, so we are fighting for our lives.”
