‘The Goldbergs’ Sneak Peek: Adam Wins an ‘Acadamom’ Award (VIDEO)
The Goldbergs are getting in the awards season spirit as mother Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) celebrates the Acadamom Awards in the latest episode of the ABC comedy.
In an exclusive clip above, Beverly puts on her own version of the Academy Awards where every nomination is for her filmmaking son Adam (Sean Giambrone). “And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the Acadamom Award for Best Picture,” Beverly begins.
Adam’s response to her presentation? “I thought last year was the end of this when I got my Lifetime Achievemom Award,” he complains. But of course, Beverly’s not having any of it.
The Goldberg matriarch continues on with her annual ceremony held in their kitchen, until Adam plays along, accepting his Acadamom Award for Best Picture. But when it comes time to deliver his acceptance speech, he thanks nearly everyone but the person looking for the credit they crave.
When Pops (George Segal) whines that Adam should just thank his mother already, he caves and praises her in the way she wishes. Yet Beverly takes this as an invitation to take over Adam’s spotlight, clutching the award in her hand and enjoying a Sally Field moment of her own.
How will her reaction impact Adam? Viewers will have to tune in to the episode “Geoff the Pleaser” to find out. Don’t miss the hilarity this Wednesday on ABC.
