Anthony Michael Hall guest stars as a guidance counselor in the January 22 episode of The Goldbergs, and as TV Insider’s exclusive photos reveal, the appearance will include some nods to his roles in ’80s teen movies.
In “Game Night,” Adam (Sean Giambrone) goes to his guidance counselor for a lesson in being cool so he can get closer to a new girl in chemistry class. But as you know — and can see in the gallery above — it may depend on your definition of “cool” if you recall Hall’s past characters in John Hughes flicks.
Also in this episode, Geoff (Sam Lerner) tries to keep his living arrangement with Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and Barry (Troy Gentile) a secret from Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) during game night.
Hall’s credits include Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science, with recent guest roles in The Goldbergs‘ season premiere, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Riverdale.
