Oprah's Greenleaf and History's Roots Among Tribeca Film Festival Premieres
New original drama series from award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright ("Six Feet Under," "Lost") that takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful.
The times, they're a-changing.
For its fifteenth edition, the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City is getting into the business of TV with a new program, Tribeca Tune In. The selection includes premieres of new shows, sneak peeks at season premieres and finales, conversations with creators and other special events.
Oprah Winfrey will be on hand for the premiere of OWN's new drama series Greenleaf. Other shows premiering include History's revamp of Roots, AMC's The Night Manager, HBO's The Night Of, TNT's Animal Kingdom and Comedy Central's Time Traveling Bong. Among the sneak peaks are Broad City's Season 3 finale, two episodes from Grace and Frankie's second season and the Season 2 premiere of Netflix's Chef's Table.
Many of those premieres will feature appearances by cast or creators, as will special events like a farewell to The Good Wife and a look back at Six Feet Under. Discussions will also be held with Full Frontal's Samantha Bee, Odd Mom Out's Jill Kargman and Catastrophe stars Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney.

Animal Kingdom (TNT) premiere

TFF attendees will get a special opportunity to see an episode of HISTORY’s eight-hour miniseries, Roots, in advance of its Memorial Day premiere. Roots is a historical portrait of American slavery that follows one family over many generations. The lineage begins with young Kunta Kinte, who is captured in his homeland of The Gambia and transported in brutal conditions to colonial America. Recounting the journey of one family and their will to survive, Roots is an inspiring story about the desire to carry on a legacy despite enormous hardship and inhumanity.
