‘Grey’s Anatomy’ EP Krista Vernoff on Meredith Dating, Jackson and Maggie & More Season 15 Romances
“We’re dubbing this the season of love,” says Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Krista Vernoff, “and that’s a fun jumping-off point for some romantic comedy storytelling.”
Of course, there will still be plenty of bleeding bodies for the Grey Sloan Memorial staff to heal, but some broken hearts will be fixed as well.
Below, we take the docs’ romantic pulse.
Meredith is on the market.
“The question is not ‘Will Meredith find love again?’ It’s ‘With whom [will she find it]?'” Vernoff says. Yep, Dr. Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will test the tragicomic shoals of dating. Could the right guy be hunky new orthopedic surgeon Link (Nashville’s Chris Carmack)? “He’s walking down the hall turning heads,” Vernoff says, “but whether or not he turns Meredith’s head remains to be seen.”
Owen has feelings for two women.
Dr. Hunt (Kevin McKidd) is torn between likely baby mama Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and neurosurgeon ex-wife Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone). “There are no villains here,” says Vernoff. “You’ve got two women who Owen really loves. It’s complicated and painful and beautiful.”
Alex and Jo settle down.
After years of facing some serious trauma, things finally calm down for just-married docs Karev (Justin Chambers) and Wilson (Camilla Luddington). We’ll even see them honeymoon at a beach resort. But, cautions Vernoff, tying the knot “doesn’t mean careers don’t continue to change and life doesn’t throw challenges at you.”
Jackson and Maggie struggle.
Star-crossed Dr. Avery (Jesse Williams) and Dr. Pierce (Kelly McCreary) continue to face obstacles as his newfound faith in God causes tension.
