It’s a good week to be Ruby Rose. Not only is the Orange is the New Black alum about to be seen in the summer’s most important film, The Meg, but she has also just signed on to play Batwoman in this December’s big Arrowverse crossover.

Also known as Kate Kane, the Gotham-based DC Comics character was described in the initial Warner Bros. press release touting Batwoman’s arrival as “an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”

She’s also “armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind,” as well as the potential star of her own series, which is already in development.

This is the Arrowverse’s second major win for inclusive casting. At Supergirl‘s Comic-Con panel in July, executive producer Sarah Schechter announced that trans actress and activist Nicole Maines would be recurring this season as Nia Nal, aka Dreamer, a trans superhero with links to the Legion.

And while there’s no word on what leads Kate Kane to the heroes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow in the four-show crossover. Filming on the crossover is set to start near the end of September, and we’re already awaiting the super-awkward-but-sure-to-be-awesome meet-up between Rose’s Kane, Legends‘ Sara (Caity Lotz) and her old fling, Supergirl‘s Alex (Chyler Leigh).
