Between Star Trek: The Next Generation and his role in the Independence Day movies, Brent Spiner is more than ready to roll with an alien like Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). How he handles humans — especially politicians — may be a much bigger challenge.

The CW announced today that the noted genre favorite — who played DATA on TNG for its entire seven-season run and recently appeared as “The Architect” on The Blacklist — has signed on for a recurring role on Season 4 of Supergirl as Vice President Baker.

Described as “unlikely leader” who “steps up in a big way when his country needs him most,” the casting has us wondering whether we’ll be seeing Lynda Carter back as President Olivia Marsdin. Plus, will Baker even be aware that his Commander in Chief is also from another planet? We do know that the fourth season’s big storyline is all about the rise of severe anti-alien sentiment in America…

This isn’t Spiner’s first foray into DC Comics territory, either. He’s voiced The Joker on Young Justice in 2011 and Edward Nygma for Justice League Action just last year. Two villains? Oh Kara, we don’t like this guy already.
