‘Deception’: The Stars Preview Their New High-Stakes Magic Drama (VIDEO)
On Sunday, ABC will premiere new drama Deception, directly following the epic return of American Idol. The series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as superstar magician Cameron Black who uses his skills to assist the FBI, particularly special agent Kay Daniels (Ilfenesh Hadera) on bizarre cases.
The series comes from Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak, Martin Gero (Blindspot), magician David Kwong, Warner Bros. TV and Greg Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Productions. Deception has been described as “Magician Impossible” by Fedak, due to the high-stakes action sequences injected with crazy magic tricks (courtesy of Kwong, whose resume boasts the big-budget magic film Now You See Me).
Cutmore-Scott and Hadera recently talked with TV Insider to preview what’s to come in the series, including how their characters will interact with each other and the difficulties of picking up magic and performing it for the small screen.
