Kelly Clarkson Reveals How ‘Idol’ Has Shaped Her ‘Voice’ Strategy (VIDEO)

The Voice is coming back and Kelly Clarkson knows that she’s not the only one who has been waiting for a moment like this.

“I have been these [singers],” the vocal powerhouse said recently, while chatting with TV Insider about her new gig on the NBC show. “This is where I came from.”

As the original American Idol winner, Clarkson confesses that she comes to the coaching role with empathy for the wannabes. She also boasts a first-hand knowledge she expects to serve her well in beating Blake Sheldon, Adam Levine, and Alicia Keys.

In addition, the Grammy winner offers high praise to the other singers from her season of Idol and implies that song choice and timing of that choice really do matter (Simon would be so proud). Watch the video below to find out her strategy for helping someone score a record deal, and which pop balladeer her team should expect to take on during the competition.
