Sink your teeth into this: Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) and James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) are turning vampire for the new animated series Vampirina, coming this fall on Disney Junior.

Based on the hit children’s book Vampirina Ballerina by Anne Marie Pace, the program centers on Vee (Isabella Crovetti), a lovable young vampire girl who moves with her mom and dad (that would be Graham and Van Der Beek) from Transylvania to Pennsylvania and attempts to adjust to life as the new—and very weird—kid in town. Meanwhile, Vee’s parents will be running the Scare B&B, a bed and breakfast inn for visiting ghouls and goblins.

Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell are also part of the starry cast as Vee’s grandparents, Nanpire and Grandpop, while Wanda Sykes voices Vampirina’s cantankerous yet loyal gargoyle sidekick Gregoria. Each episode will include original songs from Broadway composers Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond (The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes), performed by the voice cast. Van Der Beek, Graham and Crovetti also perform the series’ theme song.

Vampirina is executive produced by Chris Nee, creator of Disney Junior’s inspiring, Peabody Award-winning series Doc McStuffins, about a little girl who practices medicine on her toys and stuffed animals.

“For the last few years, I’ve wondered how anything could be as exciting to me as Doc’s world,” Nee tells TV Insider. “But now I’m just as madly in love with Vampirina’s world. This is a show that will celebrate and honor our differences—and we’ll have a lot of fun with them, too!”
