Jimmy Kimmel Has Epic Reaction to Trump’s Humiliating Election Loss
What To Know
- Jimmy Kimmel reacted to early midterm results, calling the Democratic gains a “blue tsunami.”
- The late-night host noted how the Democrats looked poised to take the House and the Senate.
- Kimmel mocked Donald Trump as a “lame duck” president.
Jimmy Kimmel was the only late-night host to air a new episode after polls closed during Tuesday’s (November 3) midterm elections, and he wasted no time mocking President Donald Trump.
Most late-night shows skipped new episodes on election night, with the exception of The Daily Show, which taped its episode before polls closed, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which reportedly filmed later than usual to allow Kimmel to react to some of the early results. As the night unfolded, it became increasingly clear that the blue wave was happening.
“They’re not just calling it a blue wave, but a blue tsunami, despite the fact no one knows tsunami has a T in it,” Kimmel said at the top of his opening monologue. “One election model from Harvard said the chances of Republicans keeping the House tonight was as likely as rolling the number 20 on a 20-sided dice.”
He added, “They could have just said five percent, but somebody at Harvard really wanted to let us know they play Dungeons and Dragons.”
“It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s ass, Jon Husted’s ass, the only ass on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him,” Kimmel quipped, referencing the president’s fixation on people’s behinds during his recent campaign rallies.
He even brought back the 2024 rumor about Vice President JD Vance once having sex with a couch. “The Democrats took so many seats, JD Vance can’t even find one to have sex with him,” Kimmel joked.
Turning his attention back to Trump, the host said the president spent the day at the White House watching Fox News and “trying to give himself an insurrection.” He added, “Word from inside the White House is he’s already run out of dipping sauce containers to throw at the television set.”
At the time of recording, Kimmel noted how many Democratic nominees were on track to win their races, including James Talarico in Texas, who ultimately beat Republican Ken Paxton. “The bad news is James Talarico might have to start carpooling with Ted Cruz starting in January,” Kimmel said.
“It’s all looking good for Democrats,” he continued. “Man, would I hate to be the DoorDash driver who delivers Trump his Papa John’s tonight.
Kimmel noted that Trump must have had some idea this was coming “because this morning he was bragging about his approval rating in another country.” He then played a clip of the president claiming he has a 99 percent approval rating in Israel and could move there and become prime minister.
“That might be the best idea he’s ever had,” Kimmel retorted. “I would gladly pay for an El Al flight. Make Israel great again. You could sell a whole new line of hats.”
Summing up the night, which ended with the Democrats taking control of the House and the Senate, Kimmel said, “The blue wave has made landfall and now the red wedding begins. The bad news is I guess we’re not getting that $5,000… Donald Trump is officially a lame duck and an orange chicken at the same time.”
