‘The View’ Hosts Befuddled by Trump’s New Butt Obsession
After Donald Trump repeatedly made comments on the campaign trail about male candidates’ physiques, the cohosts of The View simply had to weigh in. And so they did on Friday’s (October 23) episode, which featured Whoopi Goldberg on her day off, handling moderator duties while Joy Behar was still out of commission.
First, the cohosts reviewed footage of Trump commenting on Ohio Senator John Husted’s derrière, saying, “I looked at his ass, and then I looked at his legs, and I said, ‘His ass, it’s like a pile of muscle.'”
Sara Haines was the first to react and pointed to a broader trend in Trump’s stumping. “I don’t think it’s helping because beyond just these kind of checking out every candidate and describing them out loud as if stream of consciousness is a thought process, he also spent up to 15 minutes complaining about not getting the Nobel Peace Prize. He’s floated renaming the Atlantic Ocean the Trump Ocean or the Ocean of the Americas. He suggested wild animals will eat locals in Montana if Democrats take away guns. He admitted that he could say the stupidest things, and the audience will clap. He said that if an audience member suffered a heart attack at his rally, his doctors would refuse to leave his side to help, and they’d be collateral damage. This man doesn’t make sense.” Haines went on to compare him to someone “trying to take Grandpa off the spotlight and being like, ‘Just sit down. You can watch it on television. Please don’t participate.'”
Alyssa Farah Griffin, meanwhile, said it was actually “refreshing” to hear Trump talk about butts. “As the saying goes, ‘We’re all a little gay.’ He’s just leaning right into it. You guys remember when he was talking about Arnold Palmer, the golf player? He’s like, ‘He’s all man,’ and just going into detail about him showering and what other men would say.”
However, Griffin also said that the bigger picture to focus on was the fact that Trump was having to make these speeches in “deep red parts of the country” like Mississippi and Ohio. “He’s going places that he shouldn’t have to be,” she said.
Ana Navarro then offered her rationale for why Trump was fixated on men’s bodies lately, saying, “As we all know now from watching Trump for over a decade, he is the master of the art of distraction. And the reason he’s talking about John Husted’s ass, which is very weird, is because he can’t talk about gas prices because they’re through the roof. He can’t talk about inflation because they’re through the roof — mortgage 7.5 percent, diesel $6. So, in order not to talk about those issues, the ones that actual voters care about, he’s got to distract with this.” She also said it was “ironic” that Trump was showing such proclivities since he’d criticized others, like Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, by suggesting, falsely, that he was gay, “and, here, Donald Trump sounds like he’s auditioning for an elderly character in Heated Rivalry.”
Navarro then wondered aloud, “Can you imagine just for three seconds what Republicans would have said if Hillary Clinton would have said about Kamala Harris, ‘Damn, she’s got a good ass. Her ass is nothing but a pile of muscle’? They would have gone insane.”
Sunny Hostin, when it was her turn, was admittedly befuddled by his comments. “I don’t even know what to say because it’s so crazy and unhinged,” she said. However, she did have a piggyback comment on what Griffin pointed out about the location of the speeches in question. “To your point about Trump always being in these red states right now, you said something to me that I remembered this morning. You said, ‘He goes to those states because he needs an audience, because if he goes to a swingier state like Maine or something like that, he’s going to be speaking to an empty room.”
Goldberg got the last word, per usual, and said, “My hope is that people are just kind of going, ‘Wow, that is so bizarre! You just turn into a very strange Twilight Zone character.’ It’s unhinged. But, ‘Let me go vote because we don’t want Twilight Zone characters running the country.”

Trumple-thin-skin is always obsessed by what he DOESN'T have-- in this case, good looks and a decent physique.
