  • Jenny Marrs asked fans to pray for a young former Fixer to Fabulous guest.
  • Jenny and Dave Marrs renovated the Esmeyer family’s home last year.
  • The project was featured on a Season 7 episode of the HGTV series earlier this year.

Jenny Marrs is asking fans for their support after sharing an update on a former Fixer to Fabulous guest.

Over the years, Jenny and her husband, Dave Marrs, have participated in several 24-hour home renovation marathons for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, helping families going through difficult times with much-needed home makeovers. Jenny and Dave have documented a few of their St. Jude projects on their flagship HGTV series.

In a Monday, October 12, Instagram post, Jenny revealed that the Esmeyer family, the recipients of last year’s St. Jude build, are going through a difficult time.

“Our family is currently desperately praying for our precious St Jude build kiddo from last summer, Teal, as her parents recently received a devastating medical update,” she shared. “As I prayed for Teal this morning. God led me to this reminder from Elisha: He’s working in ways we cannot see with our physical eyes but we can trust that He’s always working. He is right there in the midst of every battle and we can hold onto Hope even if it feels like the enemy has the upper hand.”

Jenny’s post featured a Bible verse on a picturesque lake backdrop, which read, “‘Don’t be afraid! Elisha told him. ‘For there are more on our side than theirs!’ 2 Kings 6:16.”

In the post’s caption, Jenny continued, “I love the imagery in this verse and can just picture @stjude in Memphis surrounded on all sides, a circle of protection, by an army of angels battling on behalf of the kiddos within the walls. Praying for miracles to unfold today within those walls.”

Fans sent their love to Teal and her family in the comments, with one user writing, “Beautiful words! God is always with us even in our hardest moments. Praying for Teal and family and all the precious children at St Jude.” Another added, “Beautiful encouragement. Where two or more are gathered…joining you in prayers for Teal & so many.”

Someone else shared, “Praying for Teal, her family and team of doctors.” A different person posted, “I will add Teal, to our prayers. Please, @jennymarrs, keep us informed.” A separate commenter said, “Thank you for sharing this. My thoughts and prayers are with Teal and her family.”

The Esmeyers’ home renovation was featured on a Season 7 episode of Fixer to Fabulous. During the episode, Teal’s parents, Bo and Dru, explained that a mass was found in her head after she experienced headache pain. She was later admitted to St. Jude’s and underwent multiple surgeries. Jenny and Dave recruited their five kids — Nathan, Ben, Sylvie, Charlotte, and Luke — and dozens of workers to help transform the family’s home in one day.

The family smiled when they saw their brand-new backyard, which featured a swimming pool and a special playhouse for Teal. Jenny, Dave, and their team also transformed the home’s kitchen and powder room.

“Whenever you see a community turn out for a family, you know that that family has given back to this community in the past,” Jenny stated at the end of the episode. “There’s no doubt what kind of people the Esmeyers are and what kind of hearts they have because everyone showed up for them.”
