Alan Dysert, who was best known for playing shady con man Sean Cudahy on the ABC soap opera All My Children from 1980 to 1990, died on October 23 at the age of 75.

His wife, Michele, announced his death on Facebook on October 25, remembering her husband as a talented actor, musician, writer, filmmaker, and teacher who touched countless lives.

“My heart is broken as I share that my beloved husband, Alan, passed away on October 23, 2026. While I am struggling to imagine life without him, I am forever grateful to have experienced what so many people spend their lives searching for — the love of a lifetime,” wrote Michele Dysert in the post. “Alan lived an extraordinary life. From his humble beginnings as a farm boy in Illinois, he went on to become an actor, musician, writer, filmmaker, producer, and beloved acting teacher. Many knew him from his years on All My Children, while thousands of others knew him as the teacher and mentor who encouraged them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. He was a life changer!”

“And to my sweet Alan — thank you for loving me, for making me laugh, for the adventures, the memories, and the beautiful life we built together. I would choose you all over again, without hesitation. My heart is broken, but I am so thankful for the love of a lifetime. I will love you always,” his wife wrote in the tender tribute.

Although no official cause of death was revealed, Dysert had previously opened up about his battle with a rare, aggressive, incurable cancer in his 2023 autobiography, Lights, Camera, Cancer!: A Farm Boy’s Journey From Soap Opera Bad Boy To Cancer Survivor. He had undergone four major cancer-related surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and treatment for a recurrence.

Born and raised on a farm in Illinois, Dysert studied television arts at the University of Illinois before working in real estate and pursuing stand-up comedy. He made his television acting debut on the soap opera primetime parody Soap in 1978 before landing his signature role on All My Children.

Dysert is survived by his wife, Michele, and his two sons, Cody and Cooper.
