Jeopardy!’: Dramatic Game Goes Down to Final Clue
Spoiler Alert
It looked to be a runaway for one Jeopardy! contestant until another found two of the Daily Doubles and answered them correctly. Find out how the dramatic game went down and if the reigning champion won again.
Anthony Cantor, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has a three-day total of $58,500. For his fourth game on October 22, the television and podcast producer played against Carson Davis, from Missoula, Montana, and Christina Bobal, from Warrenton, Virginia. Warning: Spoilers for the Thursday, October 22, episode of Jeopardy! ahead!
Bobal, an English language teacher, dominated the first half of the game. She had the lead with 16 correct responses.
However, Double Jeopardy changed the game. While Bobal still played a great game, Cantor found both Daily Doubles in the round, and got them both correct. He took the lead and maintained it through the end of the round.
At the end of the game, Cantor had $22,400. Bobal was in second place with a respectable $13,400. Davis, a nursery worker, had $8,600.
With only one of the game show contestants having the correct response and a nearly doubled total with their wager, the game was very close at the end.
The Final Jeopardy category was “Historic Vessels.” The clue read, “Now part of a Connecticut museum, this vessel traveled 1,830 miles in a novel way as part of Operation Northwest Passage.”
Davis’ response was “What is USS Nautilus?” which was the correct response. He wagered $8,600, giving him $17,200.
Bobal wrote, “What is an icebreaker?” She was wrong and wagered $9,201. This gave her a final total of $3,999.
Cantor did not have the correct response either. He wrote, “What is the Amistad?” He wagered $4,001, giving him a final total of $18,399. Although the totals were close between Cantor and Davis, Cantor came out with another win.
His four-day total was $77,199. Cantor will return for game five on Friday. If he wins that game, he will make it to the Tournament of Champions and become the first contestant this season to qualify for it.
