It’s almost time to return to Happy’s Place as the NBC comedy kicks off Season 3 beginning Friday, October 23, and we have an exclusive first look at the lingering tension between Bobbie (Reba McEntire) and Emmett (Rex Linn).

The episode, titled “Office/Space,” finds the colleagues and exes working together from their newfound status in the friend zone. The problem is, they don’t know how to act around one another, as the sneak peek clip above unveils.

“Door’s opened, day’s started,” Bobbie announces when walking through the doors of the titular establishment. “Hello?” she asks when she realizes no one seems to be around.

“Morning,” Emmett greets as he steps out of the kitchen. When Bobbie asks him where everyone is, Emmett informs her, “They are upstairs with Isabella.” As fans will recall, Bobbie’s younger sister Isabella is expanding the business with a speakeasy mocktail bar, and her new office happens to be above Happy’s Place.

Bobbie’s reaction to learning everyone is tending to the speakeasy upstairs elicits a “cool, cool coolio” from her as she maneuvers the one-on-one time with Emmett. The awkwardness abounds as she says, “another day,” and he responds with a delayed, “another dollar.”

Emmett goes on to ask Bobbie if she’s OK, and her “always” isn’t so convincing. But fans can interpret the response for themselves.

Part of Bobbie’s awkwardness is her feeling of abandonment as the logline for the episode teases that Isabella reassures her that they’ll still see each other despite the new office space separating them. Meanwhile, Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) and Takoda (Takola Black Elk) work to convince Emmett to stop giving Bobbie so much space after their romance ended.

Can Emmett rise to the occasion and make it work? Tune in to find out and check out the full clip above.
