  • Alexandra Daddario, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Betsy Brandt tease what’s to come.

Big changes are coming in Mayfair Witches Season 3, namely its move from Anne Rice‘s signature location of New Orleans to Salem, Massachusetts, a town with its own storied history of witches. Will part of the show still be set in New Orleans, and will famous characters from Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches books be introduced?

Before the series stages its New York Comic Con 2026 panel on Friday, October 9, here’s what we learned from the Mayfair Witches cast about Season 3, which Alexandra Daddario said “feels totally off the wall in the best way.”

Premiering in 2027, Mayfair Witches Season 3 “will dive deeper into the mythology of witchcraft, introduce new ‘spellbound’ families and feature some of the historical happenings of Salem, the infamous town of witch trials and folklore,” according to AMC.

“We just completely went for it this season,” Daddario told TV Insider at the AMC Upfront presentation in April 2026. “Bringing Salem into it, bringing more witchcraft into it, and really bringing the origin of this story into it, that’s really fun, and I think people will be really excited to see the new characters.”

Those new characters include Betsy Brandt as Katherine, Michiel Huisman as Michael, Eliza Scanlen as Jessica, James Frain as Solomon, and Omar Maskati as Leo. Returning stars alongside Daddario (Rowan Mayfair) are Harry Hamlin (Cortland Mayfair), Tongayi Chirisa (Ciprien “Sip” Grieve), and Alyssa Jirrels (Moira Mayfair).

“I have a new love interest, which is very exciting, Michael,” Daddario revealed of Huisman’s character. “The actors that we brought in are so amazing and the characters are so incredible. It brings so much to the story and to the history of Anne Rice’s novels.”

Michael Curry is the name of Rowan’s primary love interest in the books. While Daddario confirmed that Huisman’s Michael is her character’s love interest in Season 3, AMC hasn’t revealed if this Michael is meant to be Michael Curry.

The same applies to Brandt’s Katherine, who could possibly be Katherine Mayfair, sibling of Julien Mayfair.

Ted Levine played the powerful Mayfair patriarch in Season 2. His dead spirit possessed his son, Cortland, and was still in control of him at the end of Season 2. Hamlin told us that Rice’s “tweaked writing style” means that “anything is possible.” “There are no rules in Anne Rice’s world,” he said.

Hamlin revealed that he will be playing more than just his two characters in the third season — and that his scenes with Brandt are some of his favorite they’ve filmed for the series. He also said there’s a witch museum in Season 3 that’s “better than the actual one in Salem.”

Brandt told TV Insider that Katherine is “a breath of something, I want to say fresh air.” On working with Hamlin, she said, “I always say if Harry had a cult, we would all join it.”

Brandt reunites with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul‘s Mark Johnson (executive producer) and Thomas Schnauz (Mayfair co-showrunner with Esta Spalding) in Season 3. Johnson oversees the whole AMC Immortal Universe, which includes Interview With the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat (Season 4, Queen of theDamned, is in development) and the now-canceled Talamasca: The Secret Order.

“I would do everything with them,” Brandt said of Johnson and Schnauz. “To have Tom Schnauz write for you is fantastic, and then to be directed by him was like, I knew it was going to be good and — I’m going to get emotional — it was even better than I thought. I’m so proud of the work we were doing this season. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I’m really excited.”

Brandt said she asked Hamlin for advice on how to “rise to the occasion” of the “heightened language” her character is required to speak. She recalled telling Hamlin, “That doesn’t make me afraid, but I also want it to be real and grounded.”

“He gave me some insight into that. I have never looked back,” Brandt continued. “I’ve never done anything like that on TV, and it was really, really fun to do.”

Season 1 revealed that Cortland, Rowan’s great-uncle, is also her biological father. Her mother is Deirdre Mayfair (Annabeth Gish, who was photographed on set of Season 3), whom Cortland sexually assaulted in order to bring Lasher (Jack Huston) into existence through the prophesied 13th Mayfair witch, Rowan.

Cortland and Rowan had to work together to get Lasher back in Season 2, but it was a reluctant collaboration. Hamlin said that Cortland/Julien and Rowan’s interactions are “not linear interactions at all” in Season 3.

“They’re hard to describe,” he said, “but it’s Anne Rice. Anything is game.”

The last viewers saw Rowan, she was keeping a major secret from everyone she knows: She drank Lasher’s Taltos blood, which heightened her powers like never before. That secret “is a huge plot point” in Season 3, according to Daddario.

“It’s just really exciting where it goes, because you have to make a decision of how you’re going to use your power,” The White Lotus star said, “and there’s always the question of whether you’re going to use it for good or evil. Rowan is one of these people that’s constantly tempted, so there’s hard decisions to make.”

“This season, [Rowan] is finally an established witch and she knows who she is and she knows what’s going on,” Daddario shared, “so we’re living in the chaos of that and living in the chaos of what it means to be a witch and be trapped in this life that she has chosen for herself.”

As for Chirisa’s Ciprien Grieve, the Talamasca agent was last seen escaping Scotland with the Taltos children that Julien tried to kill to strengthen his powers.

“Sip’s just got promoted. He’s now the head of Talamasca New Orleans, so that’s very exciting,” Chirisa told us. “Of course, the biggest thing is we left off with Julien being the main antagonist. Now, [Sip] is on a mission to make sure that he doesn’t get his way.”

Chirisa can’t comment on whether Sip will be seen in Salem in Season 3, but he did confirm that New Orleans will still be involved.

What he could say is, “Sip is in New Orleans, and he left with Julien trying to take the Taltos blood from these little babies, and I’m like, ‘He can’t have that!’ So, that’s my mission right now: to stop the big bad wolf.”

While no one could say what, if anything, Mayfair Witches Season 3 is adapting from book three of Rice’s Mayfair trilogy, Taltos, Chirisa said that “the Taltos are involved” in the new season.

“From Season 2, we’ve brought them in, and that’s a continual conversation that’s happening,” he explained. “But they are an integral part of the opening of our show, so it’ll be exciting to see what happens to them after.”

The Women of the Movement alum also revealed that Season 3 has more humor than the previous seasons, and he thinks “there’s a nice tonal shift to it.”

“I love how it’s exploring the folklore of Salem and Salem witches and the history behind that, but with a little bit of AMC Mayfair Witches twist to it,” he said.

As the head of Talamasca New Orleans, Sip is “trying to clean house,” according to Chirisa. “He’s trying to right the wrongs. He’s trying to make sure that it’s done to the T, but he’s constantly facing obstacles upon obstacles. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.”

“His frustration is, ‘You say you’ve given me the key to the city, and it’s not opening the door,'” Chirisa explained. “So, he has to go a little deeper to find out who’s responsible and why he doesn’t get the answers that are necessary for him to make the necessary changes. For Sip, the one main frustrating part is, ‘Why am I being locked out in an institution that I’ve given my entire life to, and you’re not allowing me to do my job effectively?'”

Rowan and Sip had a romantic relationship that ended badly in Season 1, which caused tension between them in Season 2. In Season 3, according to Chirisa, the relationship is pretty nonexistent.

“He’s more career-oriented,” said Chirisa. “He has to do the work, despite his feelings or lack of for Rowan. At this point, it’s business as usual.”
