Raquell Brown has claimed that she felt “forced” into marriage with Alaskan Bush People star Gabriel “Gabe” Brown, alleging that he was abusive to her and their children throughout the relationship.
According to newly filed court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Raquell claimed in her divorce declaration, “I worry for my children’s safety and well-being every day. During the time that I’ve been married to Gabe, I’ve been severely abused emotionally, mentally, financially, and at times physically.”
It was reported on Wednesday (September 30) that Raquell filed for divorce on September 22, two months after TMZ reported that the pair had separated. The former couple, who share three children, have been living in separate homes since April.
Raquell and Gabe started dating in 2018, after Gabe’s sister, Rain Brown, introduced the pair. They tied the knot in January 2019, and a second reception aired on Alaskan Bush People in 2020.
In her declaration, Raquell claimed that “fights were started on purpose and breakups were threatened” early in the relationship. She also said that she and her two children from a prior relationship were “forced to stay in a travel trailer with no electricity or water” on the family’s property because Gabe “would not leave his family.”
She alleged that a fight took place in 2018, in which Rain “screamed in my face” while driving to Noah Brown’s wedding. Raquell claimed that Gabe yelled at her to “respond to my sister or he would break up with me” and was called “selfish, a bitch and a horrible person.”
“The verbal, mental and emotional abuse began to rise” after that incident, Raquell alleged.
The former couple tied the knot in January 2019, but Raquell recalled calling her mom and telling her, “I didn’t want to sign [the marriage certificate] until she was present and felt forced into the marriage.” She said she “reluctantly” signed the paperwork and was “promised a bigger wedding with my family present later in June.”
Raquell, who welcomed three kids with Gabe in 2019, 2021, and 2025, claimed that she and the children faced “verbal, emotional, mental and physical abuse” throughout the relationship.
“I was called a bitch on many occasions, lazy, selfish, a terrible mother, terrible daughter, and terrible friend,” she alleged. “I was told that my parents didn’t love me and that only Gabe would put up with me. I was told that everyone would leave me and not come back.”
Raquell also claimed that Gabe was violent towards the children, alleging that they experienced “physical abuse masked as discipline” and had “red handprints on their bottoms” and were yelled at “inches away from their faces.”
She added that Gabe’s behavior got worse after the death of his father, Billy Brown, in February 2020. Raquell claimed Gabe would have “night terrors” and “punch, kick and choke” her while she was sleeping.
“I made a mistake thinking the only way I could get out of my marriage would be suicide,” Raquell stated. “I was made to believe that if I wanted a divorce, Gabe would take my children and everything away from me. I regret this decision and am ashamed of myself for it.”
Gabe has not responded to the claims as of writing.
