‘Home Improvement’s Jonathan Taylor Thomas Arrested for Resisting Police Officer

Jonathan Taylor Thomas largely remains out of the public eye, but he made headlines on September 23 after it was revealed that he’d been arrested in Westlake Village, California, two days earlier. Police confirmed to People that the Home Improvement star had been detained.

The actor was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for a DUI investigation and allegedly became unruly with the officer. Per law enforcement, “Sometime during the investigation, Mr. Taylor decided he would exit the vehicle. Deputies told him to sit back down in the vehicle. He was uncooperative with them, failed to follow orders, and obstructed the investigation, so he was arrested for obstruction, and he was arrested for drunk in public.”

The officer on the scene arrested Thomas and detained him at Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station’s jail. He was booked at 1:50 a.m. and released more than 34 hours later.

No charges have been filed against Thomas at this time, but People noted that the prosecutor can still file charges after reviewing the case.

In July, Thomas was seen for the first time in years in a social media photo with some of his Home Improvement costars. Patricia Richardson, who played Thomas’ mom on the show, posted the image, which showed her posing between her onscreen sons (Taran Noah Smith was also in the shot.” She captioned it, “My other boys,” with a red heart emoji.

Noticeably missing from the image was the third Home Improvement son, Zachery Ty Bryan, who is currently serving a 16-month jail sentence following multiple arrests.

Thomas left Home Improvement at the beginning of its eighth season and has mostly stepped away from acting. ““I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break,” he explained to People in 2013. “I never took the fame too seriously. It was a great period in my life, but it doesn’t define me. When I think back on the time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not that I was on a lot of magazine covers.”

His last acting role was a 2015 episode of Last Man Standing, which reunited him with Home Improvement dad Tim Allen.
