Kimmel Spots Moment When Trump ‘Almost Slipped & Told the Truth’

Jimmy Kimmel said that Donald Trump “almost slipped and told the truth” while addressing his controversial decision to ban reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House.

The late-night comedian addressed the media ban on Monday’s (September 21) Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying, “As his popularity continues to plummet, Trump’s fingers go deeper and deeper into his ears. He does not want to hear bad news. Bad news is fake news to Donald Trump.”

Trump announced on Friday (September 18) that he was banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House. In a Truth Social post, he warned, “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”

“They hurt his feelings, and so they’re not welcome in his house anymore,” Kimmel continued before rolling a clip of Trump talking about the ban at the Oval Office.

“It’s sick,” the president said in the clip. “There’s something wrong with a country that can allow people to write purposely negative stories. Now, if they want to write them, that’s fine. But I don’t have to let them into my… into the people’s house.”

Kimmel was quick to point out the “my house” slip-up, saying, “He almost slipped and told the truth there.”

“It’s the people’s house!” the comedian added. “It’s the people’s house that he knocked down without consulting any of the people.”

Speaking of Trump’s renovations, Kimmel turned his attention to the president’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for his new White House helipad. However, Trump’s media ban meant there was no audio of the event.

“The five major news outlets have something called the White House TV press pool,” Kimmel explained. “They take turns covering the president’s daily events, and they share the coverage with everyone else. But today, since they got the boot, this is what we saw, or more importantly, heard, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Trump’s new helicopter landing pad.”

After playing a clip of Trump speaking into the void, Kimmel added, “There was no microphone there, so nobody could hear him. I have to say, I like him better this way.”

The host went on to say that what Trump is doing is “positively un-American,” noting how even Fox News joined the other major networks in supporting CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.

“Do you realize how far south someone has to go for Fox News to defend CNN?” Kimmel quipped.
