High Potential‘s Season 3 return grows closer with each passing day, but as we await further details surrounding the latest chapter of ABC‘s hit series, the clues may be in front of our very eyes.

The show’s official social media accounts shared an “In Production” teaser, featuring various snapshots with the number three being a recurring motif in each image. But what clues do those images give us?

The certificates

As fans will recall, Season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, leaving the fate of LAPD consultant Morgan Gillory’s (Kaitlin Olson) new beau, Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey), uncertain after he was stabbed by an unknown assailant in the park at night. One particular image that stands out in the lineup is three framed certificates hanging on a wall, all of which recognize Nick Wagner in some way.

Could that hint at his return? Or could the certificates be a fakeout? We know Nick’s father, Nick Wagner Sr. (Clancy Brown), may be a City Councilman with a shady approach to the job, but his son previously cited the family’s legacy role within Los Angeles’s justice system. Could the senior Nick have been a captain previously and earned these honors on the wall?

Only time will tell, but it’s certainly a detail that makes our minds race as we hold on to any hope of resolution for Season 2’s cliffhanger.

The cards

Meanwhile, three playing cards are displayed among the evidence for Season 3. Could that point towards a return of the Game Maker (David Giuntoli), a fellow high-IQ individual who was essentially Morgan’s match in the criminal landscape? Sure, he was arrested at the start of Season 2, but it’s never a bad time to reintroduce legacy villains within the franchise.

It appears that Morgan, Soto (Judy Reyes), and Daphne (Javicia Leslie) will be teaming up for a case, as the three performers pose together behind the scenes of filming. Additionally, the trailer they appear to be standing in front of could hint at the direction of what crimes viewers may encounter, and we’d be lying if it’s not giving off Breaking Bad vibes.
