JUDY REYES
What are your thoughts on High Potential getting the after the Super Bowl LXI spot next year?
I have nothing to compare it to, but that’s pretty badass, don’t you think?
Yeah, it shows a lot of trust and faith in the show.
It’s exciting. I’m dying to see what that yields. Mostly, I just want to go to the Super Bowl, though, because I’ve never been.

There is a lot of anticipation for Season 3. One mystery that fans hope will be uncovered is the fate of Captain Nick Wagner. With his status uncertain, does this mean Lt. Soto steps up in leadership?
Judy Reyes: I can’t say much. What I can share is that LA is much more of a character this season than it was before. We’re working with [new EPs and co-showrunners] Zuckerman sisters (Nora and Lilla Zuckerman), who are really engaged in having people continue to experience what they experience in the show, but knowing more about the characters. So you’ll get to know more about Soto, and her life, and her family history, just like you get to know about the rest of the characters. You see how their relationships intertwine and inform how they tackle the weekly crimes with Morgan.
From a fan side of things, do you want to see Morgan and [Detective Adam] Karadac (Daniel Sunjata) get together in the end?
I’d like to see something happen. Let’s see what happens. It has got a very Moonlighting and Remington Steele vibe to it. I think that’s what I enjoy because those are two of my favorite shows. So I’m tuned in to see what happens as a result.
Yeah, but I also think Soto needs some love too.
I think I would say so too.
You’re starring and executive producing this Lifetime movie, working on two highly successful shows, and everything in between. How do you juggle everything? I’m sure there is a feeling of striking while the iron is hot, but you also want to avoid burnout.
I do a lot of self-care. I do a lot of early bedtimes and massages and trips and stuff like that. I’m very grateful that ABC does everything possible to make it as accommodating for me as they can in terms of doing the two shows at a time. What I’ve learned from executive producing is that there’s a lot more involved into it than I thought. You learn how valuable your voice is when you use it. It has informed me to go ahead and use it more. I learned how valuable my experience is. It’s not just luck that I’ve worked for 30 years. I look forward to using that experience to be able to manifest other things that I want to do. Then it’s about taking my time off when I have it. I think we all get really scared of the work ending. You save your money. You make your investments, and you take your time off when you can.
