Today With Jenna & Sheinelle returned with a new episode, a new season, and a new intro.
The fourth hour of Today returned after two weeks of prerecorded episodes on Tuesday, September 8. The episode marked a new season of the NBC morning show, its second featuring Sheinelle Jones as Jenna Bush Hager‘s co-host.
To celebrate the new season, the show debuted a brand-new intro, featuring Bush Hager and Jones in new outfits and posing in front of colorful backgrounds. “We hadn’t seen that intro yet,” Jones said at the top of the episode. “And to all of you guys and to our rockstars in the control room and editors and all the things, it looks so great.”
Bush Hager said the episode marked the end of the summer and the beginning of fall, even though it is not officially autumn yet. “I feel like this day, here — most of us take somewhat of a vacation at the end of the summer — so, we’re all back. We’re, like, hugging each other,” she remarked, while Jones added, “It feels like back-to-school for grown-ups.”

Bush Hager and Jones were two of several Today hosts who returned to the series on Tuesday after taking time off, including Savannah Guthrie. The women went on to share details about their vacations, with Bush Hager revealing she recently traveled out West with her husband, Henry Hager, and her three kids: Mila, Poppy, and Hal. The show featured photos from the trip, including a photo of the family of five riding horses and a sweet selfie Bush Hager took with her husband.

“We went to a dude ranch. It was really fun. We went to this place called Brush Creek Ranch. Although, I’ll have to say, when we got there — we go to Texas, so my kids are used to, like, they were like, ‘We’re gonna go for a drive now.’ And Mila’s like, ‘Can I drive?’ I’m like, ‘No, Mila,’” she shared. “But it was so fun. You guys, our country is so beautiful. And when you’re out there in the West and you can hike and see all these views, we just had the best time.”
Jones, meanwhile, enjoyed a staycation in New York City. “I was very tempted to plan a vacation and figure out where we could go. We were gonna go to Japan with four days. But I’m like, ‘Oh, no,’” she explained. “And then I realized, ‘You know what? Sometimes the best vacation is to just be still, to let your body wake up when it wants to.’”
Jones said her staycation involved doing “tipsy yoga” and enjoying “a lot of sound baths.” She added, “We’re happy to be back. We feel rejuvenated, and we’ve got good stuff for you coming up.”
Bush Hager took over Kathie Lee Gifford‘s role as a co-host of Today‘s fourth hour in 2019. Following Hoda Kotb‘s exit from the show last year, Bush Hager led the series with celebrity guest hosts under the title of Today With Jenna & Friends.

Jones returned to Today in September 2025 after taking several months off in the wake of her husband Uche Ojeh‘s private battle with brain cancer and his death in May 2025. She was announced as Bush Hager’s permanent fourth-hour co-host that December and began her new role in January.
