Craig Melvin celebrated the start of fall by continuing one of his family‘s sweetest traditions.
The Today anchor shares his son, Delano, and daughter, Sybil, with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and often shares glimpses of his family life on social media. In a Sunday, October 4, Instagram upload, Melvin posted several snaps from the group’s trip to a pumpkin patch.
“We picked some pumpkins and took some pictures. A tradition continued,” he captioned the post, the first slide of which featured Sybil and Delano in a field of pumpkins. In another snap, Melvin and Czarniak smiled for the camera with their kids while sitting on a large chair.
In addition to sharing a pic of himself with a pumpkin, Melvin wrapped up his post with photos of himself, Czarniak, and their kids taking snaps with a fall-themed photo op.
Fans gushed over the photos in the post’s comments, with one user writing, “Something had Del laughing in the last photo. Love your fall tradition.” Another quipped, “Physically in a pumpkin patch but the mind, secretly rehearsing this year’s Halloween character.”
Someone else shared, “Traditions like this must be preserved. Like pumpkin seeds, big memories grow from even the smallest moments.” A different person posted, “What beautiful photos! Your kids look so sweet. There’s really nothing better than the tradition of picking pumpkins together as a family.” A separate commenter stated, “Absolutely beautiful children. In the image and likeness of perfect parents.”

The pumpkin patch, Jones Family Farms and Winery in Connecticut, wrote in a comment of its own, “Thanks for making memories with us!” (Melvin resides in Connecticut with his family and commutes to New York City for his role on Today.)
Melvin previously shared his excitement for his family’s fall activities in a September 22 Instagram video. “Favorite fall things in order of importance,” he stated, listing college and NFL football as his top pick. “Secondly, if it’s Sunday, in our house, it’s soup day. Chili also included. I make my famous chili, famous only in my house. And then, we also take turns making different soups throughout the fall and winter.”
He went on to name going to “pumpkin picking with the kiddos” as his third favorite. “We’ve been doing it their entire lives. Although now, they do it far more reluctantly than they used to.”
Fans shared their own favorite fall activities in the comments section. “As an old man now, I enjoy pumpkin pie and walks in the cooler air. That’s only two things. but I forgot the third,” one user said. Another wrote, “Chill in the air, color on the trees, chili in the pot!”
Someone else stated, “Oh, cooler weather, amazing leaves here in the NC Mountains, fires, getting outside more, hiking, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Thanksgiving!” A different commenter said, “I love walking through all the beautiful burst of fall color. Sweater weather, and football! Go Seahawks!!” A different person noted, “Squeezing in a few extra good beach days. Then jump to boots sweaters & apple pies.”
