Nancy Guthrie Sheriff Drops Big DNA News in Hunt for Kidnapper

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gave an update on the results of DNA testing done on a hair found at Nancy Guthrie‘s home amid the investigation into her disappearance. Unfortunately, the hair has not led the investigators to a suspect in the case.
“The hair was done and there was nothing,” Sheriff Nanos told ABC News on July 30.
He confirmed that investigators are still looking into another DNA sample retrieved from Guthrie’s home, but it is a mix of as many as four people and it’s unclear whether technology exists that will be able to untangle it. There are multiple labs across the country working on it, Nanos said.
“We have some of the brightest minds in the nation, if not the world, working on this,” he assured, noting that there are five or six labs on the case.
No suspects have been arrested in this case after Guthrie was seemingly abducted from her home in the early hours of February 1. Before her doorbell camera was destroyed, footage was captured of a masked man on her porch, but Nanos is uncertain whether this person was working alone.
“I don’t think anybody’s here ready to say it’s one guy, it’s 10 guys. Did he have help? Could have,” he admitted.
Still, Nanos is remaining optimistic as the search hits the six-month mark. “Somebody in our community, somebody out in this world, knows something,” he concluded. “Call us, tell us, give us that information. Somebody knows where Nancy’s at. We need their help.”
Savannah Guthrie is also still hopeful that her family will get answers. In a July 27 Instagram video, she spoke directly to her mother’s abductors while pleading for details.

“I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now,” she said. “Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end for all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done. I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice.”
