What To Know

  • FBI Director Kash Patel said there may have been now-erased video footage on Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera that could have assisted in the investigation into her disappearance.
  • He said that waiting four days to get the FBI involved in the case may have affected the recovery of possible lost video.
  • Guthrie was reported missing on February 1 and no arrests have been made.

It took four days for the FBI to get involved in assisting with the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, and FBI Director Kash Patel says this delay may have resulted in crucial video evidence being lost.

Patel told Fox News Digital that the FBI was responsible for helping recover cached video from Guthrie’s doorbell camera that did not have a cloud subscription. The footage they recovered featured a masked suspect covering the camera lens and destroying the camera and was on the verge of being deleted.

However, per the outlet, a masked man also appeared on Guthrie’s Nest camera about three weeks earlier, and only a still image was recovered. While it’s unclear if there was other video footage of ‘Porch Guy’ on the camera that could’ve helped the investigation, Patel said it’s possible that there was video that was lost before the FBI became involved.

“We were looking for the needle of all needles in all haystacks because since she didn’t pay for [a cloud subscription], they didn’t record that data,” he explained. “But there was a chance that it was located in their cache just before it was being deleted.”

The footage that the FBI did recover was made public on February 10, nine days after Guthrie was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona. Despite hopes that someone would recognize the suspect in the video, there have been no arrests made in the case.

“What we do know is that the longer you wait, there’s no chance of recovering the video,” Morgan Wright, the CEO and founder of the National Center for Open and Unsolved Cases, said. “The earlier you get started, the better your chances. Waiting four days may have been fatal to the recovery of some video that could have been more illuminating.”

Patel claimed the FBI was ready to begin assisting in the investigation on day one, but said it took local authorities four days to ask for assistance.

They've been doing all that they can in this case - with no results. What's the harm in getting a legitimate psychic who may be able to help locate Nancy or the perpetrator? There are psychics who have worked with police before. The police have tried everything else; why not a psychic? What do they have to lose?

i have researched and from my results a psychic has not been able to solve a case like this, in my opinion on your statement what do they have to lose ? Money, if a psychic was able to help and solve, they would have done this for no charge for legitimacy in their field , can you imagine the publicity ?

They've worked with law enforcement, but they've never solved a crime. This is documented on the Department of Justice's website.

Never trust a so-called psychic because a lot of them claim to work with law enforcement, but they've never been successful.

In the history of law enforcement per the DOJ website, never has a psychic solved a crime. Ever. They're all snake oil salesmen and charlatans.

Evidence of Immediate FBI InvolvementFirst-Night Task Force Presence: Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that when he personally responded to the scene the night Nancy Guthrie went missing, a member of the local FBI Task Force had already been notified and was physically present working alongside local law enforcement. Prompt Coordinated Notifications: The Pima County Sheriff's Department stated that the bureau was promptly notified of the abduction by both their agency and the Guthrie family immediately after the disappearance was realized. Early Public Collaboration: Media and press conference records show that an FBI special agent appeared publicly at a press conference just two days after the disappearance, directly contradicting the assertion that the bureau was locked out for four days.

I don't think Patel is a reliable source of information. He has a pattern of speaking first and acting much too late. He's made a mess of the FBI by firing veteran investigators because they're experts, and he resents that. He's a lot like Pete Hegseth, in that he's out of his element.

I don't like Patel at all! He is so enamored of ridiculous celebrities like Taylor Swift that it is nauseating. It's a bad look. I am one of those people who is so happy Swift finally found someone to marry. So many songs about ex boyfriends that it is a joke. Anyway, Patel, the FBI and that horrible sheriff handled this so badly that that poor 84 year old woman is still missing. So sorry for Savannah!

Just because you never heard of this, doesn't mean it's not legitimate. It is and psychics have been helping with cases like this for decades. Don't know where you've been hiding, so don't make comments that you know nothing about.

Psychics aren't real. Lol. There's never been a case where a psychic solved a crime. Ever.

Psychics do what they do and can actually give a message. But I am not sure psychics' abilities can works on a pay per scale....I think God or whoever anyone serves actually can warn and enlighten someone, but that person has to be really close to the Super and a true human being...so calling a psychic in... ummm

I would rather have the cops, FBI do their job.

        The sheriff is a buffoon.

I think they all know who that guy is on the footage. I even think I know who he is. It's so obvious. They aren't looking for suspects. They know who the kidnapperis and I use that term loosely, they know who he is. So does Savannah.

Look at the build of this guy, the face, the hair on the face...they are just gathering enough evidence to bring this guy in. Nancy is not alive, she was deliberately killed in my opinion for money but not for ransom money. Enough said.

Sorry for the typos. My point is, no one is looking for a suspect. They know who this person is. The porch footage was an SNL skit. The gloves, the mask, the plastic flowers...come on....but they have always been looking for this lady's remains. Her killing was well planned. There is no telling where Nancy Guthrie's body is. that's the hold up. The authorities know who killed her. They want the body. And no 84 year old woman should live alone. I don't care how sassy she is. No woman of any age 20, 30...should live alone. Especially an old, infirm woman. So sorry that Nancy Guthrie lived 84 years, raised three kids, lost her husband..had to go out this way. I hope she is alive, but I really feel she is dead.
