Fall 2026 Premiere Dates: Full Schedule for New & Returning Shows

The 2026-2027 season may still be a few months away, but we already know when some of our favorites will be back and new shows will premiere.

NBC announced its fall 2026 premiere dates on Wednesday, June 24. The Emmys kick it all off on September 14, then its programming begins on September 17 with a two-hour premiere for the civilian edition of The Traitors, New Blood. Once Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order premiere on October 8, the reality competition series will move to airing one hour a week.

On September 21, The Voice Season 30, with coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green, and new drama Line of Fire (starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis) premieres. Two weeks later, the Dick Wolf shows premiere on Wednesday, October 7 (Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D.), and Thursday, October 8 (the Law & Order franchise). A couple weeks after that, NBC brings back Happy’s Place, alongside new comedy Newlyweds, then, soon after that, St. Denis Medical and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.

Fox then announced its premiere dates on July 14. Its premiere week kicks off on Monday, September 21, with Celebrity Name That Tune and Celebrity Weakest Link. It continues with the scripted medical night on September 22 of Best Medicine and Doc.

Then comes the big change: Sunday nights are no longer just animated on Fox this fall. Animal Control is joining The Simpsons, Universal Basic Guys, and Grimsburg, beginning on September 27.

CBS’ dates kick off with Survivor (September 23) and The Amazing Race (September 30), then its official premiere week begins on October 4, with Marshals and Tracker. Its all NCIS night, with new series New York starring LL Cool J as his LA character Sam Hanna and Scott Caan, premieres October 6.

Ghosts may be a midseason show, but there will be two, two-episode holiday specials, the Halloween one on Thursday, October 29, and Ghostsmas on December 10.

ABC’s premiere dates begin with Dancing With the Stars and R.J. Decker on Tuesday, September 15. (DWTS has a two-night premiere, continuing the next day.) Scrubs and Shark Tank have two-episode premieres on Wednesday, September 30. Abbott Elementary returns on Wednesday, October 7, while 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, and Grey’s Anatomy are all back on Thursday, October 15.

    I think High Potential should be premiering in the Fall!! It’s the best show on ABC and one I most look forward to. Way better than Elsbeth and Decker.

      Terbo, apparently your defection did not perceptibly hurt the show's ratings. Season 27 (2025-2026) of Law & Order: SVU on NBC performed exceptionally well, averaging a 0.30 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and remaining a top performer for the network. Thanks to this steady viewership—including strong cross-platform streaming numbers—the network renewed the show for the upcoming 28th season. It does not appear too "woke" whatever that is for its very large viewership.

      I suspect you can't actually define woke. So, this show currently has a single White mother (who adopted her son), a married straight couple with kids, a Black man in a committed relationship, a single Black woman, a divorced White man, and a single White man as regulars. The whole premise to address sexual assault, sex crimes, sex trafficking, missing kids, etc. I'm not sure what is woke yet... Oh, that there are people in the cast and guest casts who are not white? That not all of the criminals are lower-class drug addicts or dangerous "illegal" immigrants? Is that the problem? Sometimes white people are the bad guys and people of color are the victims?

      You probably should just stick to watching Fox "News" to avoid getting contaminated with any woke vibes.

    Interesting. Although I wish law & order would change the 2 ADA. My opinion: when I think of the dynamics of the previous ADAs n compare with the new ones, I feel sad. The new Ones are so liveless.

    I totally agree. I stopped watching the show because of the DA and the male ADA. I find myself rooting against them. I wish the show were a full hour of just the detectives.
