‘Dutton Ranch’ Renewed for Season 2 After Record-Setting First Season

The Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch has been renewed for Season 2 after a record-setting first season on Paramount+ and Paramount Network. Paramount announced the renewal on June 24, ahead of the release of Season 1 Episode 8 on Friday, June 26. The season finale comes out on Friday, July 3.

Dutton Ranch amassed 12.9 million viewers globally in the seven days following its series premiere on May 15, marking the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history. Taylor Sheridan‘s The Madison previously broke the record in March with around 8 million viewers in its first 10 days. Dutton Ranch also delivered 2.9 million total viewers during its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, making it the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023.

With 1.85 million viewers for the premiere telecast alone, Dutton Ranch also ranked as the No. 1 cable entertainment telecast among both adults 18-49 and total viewers. According to Nielsen preliminary data, the Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser-led series was also the No. 1 streaming series for the week of May 11.

There’s no news on when Dutton Ranch Season 2 will go into production. A premiere date will be announced at a later time.

In Dutton Ranch Season 1, as Beth and Rip fight to build a future together — far from the ghosts of Montana — they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul. Dutton Ranch Episode 7 ended on a cliffhanger that left Beulah Jackson’s (Annette Bening) life in the balance. In Episode 8, titled “Whiskey Limits,” a gathering storm shakes Rio Paloma, testing everyone’s bonds, and Joaquin (Juan Pablo-Raba) and Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) face off.

The series also stars Ed Harris, Finn Little, Natalie Alyn Lind, J.R. Villarreal, and Marc Menchaca.

Dutton Ranch was created by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan, based on Yellowstone characters created by executive producers Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. Sheridan does not write the series like he did Yellowstone and its prequel spinoffs, nor does he write Marshals on CBS. Feehan reportedly will not return for Dutton Ranch Season 2. It’s not clear who will take his place as showrunner.

Dutton Ranch is also executive produced by David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Keith Cox. In addition to executive producing, Voros also directed multiple episodes of Season 1, including the premiere episodes and season finale. Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham also served as directors this season.
