What To Know

  • High Potential stars Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz react to the show’s midseason schedule change for Season 3.
  • Find out why they’re saying it’s worth the wait.

High Potential‘s second season may have ended earlier this year, but fans will have to wait until 2027 to jump back into ABC‘s top-rated series as the network pushed its Season 3 debut to midseason.

But fret not, because the stars are revealing why it will be worth the wait. TV Insider caught up with Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz, who play LAPD detectives Daphne and Oz, on the red carpet at Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York City. As viewers recall, they both had some major showcases in Season 2, with Oz helping his mother tend to his father’s grave, and Daphne helping to hunt down the person who targeted her mentor.

As viewers prepare to settle in for the long wait surrounding Season 3, Leslie promises it’ll be worth it as she points out, “I think because I get threatened a lot about our show having to take off for holidays and other things like that, the best part of midseason is you get a more consistent schedule.”

In other words, fans can expect a more regular rollout of episodes, instead of weeks or even a month between episodes as they air, as they did on occasion with High Potential‘s most recent second season. “You don’t have to take off time to hang with your family or have family time,” Leslie jokes, adding with a laugh, “Forget that family, you can get High Potential every…”

“Every week,” Akdeniz chimes in, adding, “So, once we’re back, we’re gonna be going all throughout.” Meaning, fans can expect fewer hiatuses in between episodes, offering a more complete viewing experience.

Still, the move to midseason is certainly a shock as ABC aired the first two seasons with the fall slate. Stay tuned to see when High Potential‘s third season will air as we approach the new year, and let us know what you think of the cast’s reassurance surrounding the wait in the comments section below.

My parents, my daughter and I are all huge fans of High Potential. It will e hard to wait but a consistent schedule will be good. I hope it isn't going to get dark like I read a week ago. One of the great qualities of the show is its ability to find humor in a dramatic life show. There is enough dark in shows including the original H.P.I., which is dark and gritty. Not a fan.

I’m sure at this point it will be worth the wait. High Potential is the best hour on network TV to come along in quite sometime IMO. I look forward to the 3rd season and hopefully a few more after that. I’m also so glad they added a good degree of underlying seriousness and drama to the stories as the French version it is adapted from was entertaining but not nearly as well written…Also on a side note, be on the lookout for The Rockford Files reboot. That’s the holy grail of vintage private eye television!

I dont like having to wait because it is my favorite network show on television. I was also looking forward to the return later this year so it sucks that it won't return until 2027 😫 Hopefully people won't forget about it and move on which is what typically happens when shows take too long to come back then the favorable ratings fall short. I'm all in, definitely a fan of the show and the cast, so ill be impatiently waiting for the return season.

I think it's a mistake. People forget and move on. Thank you for ruining my favorite TV show.

I believe the longer you wait for a show, the less interest. Holding back High Potential will lose my interest and momentum, this is a bad move by the station or was it purposely done, not sure. I do not like soap opera type shows, or too much blood and or relationship problems. So, your other line-up I will not be watching.

It’s not fair to wait soooooo long for the new season. Kaitlyn Olsen and her partner are hilarious together. I love how she sees and solves crimes. There’s other shows that should not return, but they are, but they chose this one in the meantime.

I look forward to High Potential’s return, but meanwhile I am catching up with HPI. The story lines are different, but I love both shows.
