‘Line of Fire’: Peter Krause & Jenna Bush Hager Tease ‘Sexy’ & Twisty New Drama
What To Know
- Line of Fire, starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis, is joining NBC’s lineup this fall.
- Krause stopped by Today to discuss his new show, which also has Jenna Bush Hager as one of its executive producers.
Line of Fire is on NBC’s fall schedule, which is good news because this show sounds like it’s going to be must-see TV.
NBC announced its 2026-2027 lineup on Monday, May 11, and the next day, Peter Krause was on Today to promote his new drama, his return to TV after Bobby Nash’s tragic death on 9-1-1 in 2025. Also there to share about the show was one of its executive producers, Today‘s Jenna Bush Hager.
“It’s a fantastic family-centered show which is an action thriller. And the writer, Josh Safran, brings a lot of family dynamics to it: the good, the bad, the ugly, the funny, the sexy. It’s a very interesting, unusual show,” Krause teased, praising the rest of his cast (Hope Davis plays his wife, and Tommy O’Brien, Taylor Bloom, and Kat Cunning play the kids).
Bush Hager teased “twists” that had everyone’s mouths dropping and raved about getting Krause for the series. “It was a dream,” she said.
As for working for Bush Hager, Krause called her “absolutely fantastic,” adding, “I’d be out there filming, and I’d hear, ‘Again! Again! Work faster! Louder! Funnier!'”
The exec producer also called the series relatable, thanks to the dynamics it will tackle, though it does follow people who work in protective services. “When you’re protecting other people, can you also protect the people you love?” she pondered.
Today‘s Savannah Guthrie asked, “Are there any college-age daughters who get into trouble?” Bush Hager has said that it’s based on some of her experience with the Secret Service, and while she noted then that she “never hooked up with [her] Secret Service men,” that came up again in the May 12 Today interview.
“I’m in the Secret Service,” Krause said of his character. “My middle son is in the Secret Service. He’s a bit of a thorn in my side. He may or may not be having an affair with…” Bush Hager finished for him with, “the president’s daughter,” adding, “It’s not ripped from the headlines. It’s ripped from what I should have done. Just kidding.”
NBC’s official description of Line of Fire reads as follows: “A family of law enforcement agents bridges personal differences and crosses professional boundaries as they tackle cases for the FBI, US Marshals, Secret Service, and Department of Justice. After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.”
The series also stars Charlie Barnett. Writer Josh Safran executive produces with Bush Hager and Ben Spector. Director Rebecca Thomas is also an executive producer on the pilot.
